We've been to Amsterdam, so for us its:

Artwork, windmills and water, beautiful city, very international. Redlight district and pot are secondary to those.

When I think of the Netherlands I think of some of the best times I've had in my life. I think of a beautiful girl with blonde hair down her back. She would peddle around Haarlem on her bike with me hanging on to her from the back fender. I think of kissing under a street lamp late at night by a canal. She spoke English with an English accent. I hope she's doing well.

    I love the Netherlands.
I recommend the Van Gogh Museum. And get out of A-dam... the countryside is beautiful and the smaller towns and cities have much to offer.

that is true, i live in a small town between Amsterdam and Utrecht.

my too,i played basketbal in utrecht.

we had some great painters, Rembrand van gogh Vermeer. a.o.

it is fun to see the battles between those two:D

yeah the jerseys are great. i love the orange jerseys in every sport.i think we make good chocolat but i'm not verry sure. i think we make great chocolat in the east of Holland.we are also known for "delfts Blauw"it is a special kind of plate and cups. they are great.

i'm surprised so many of you have been in holland.

I went to Highschool in London and went to Amsterdam about once a month on the chunnel. I love Holland, the people there are my kind of people and the nightlife is so laid back and happy. I have actually been in fights there where we ended up laughing and hugging each other even though neither of us spoke the same language.

Holland is a great place to take a date too because of all the romantic things like the flower farms and I like the miniature village at Rotterdam.

But if you think Holland will ever shed its association with crazy mad partying then you are sorely mistaken. It has a lot of diamonds in the rough, but by far the best thing about Holland is the nightlife. People there know how to have fun and thats all. I dated this dutch girl in the eighth grade and she is still the most "mature" girl I have ever dated...

Only been to Amsterdam on stopovers. Loved it.
    A zillion bikes
Those little trams (only about 6feet wide)
    Van Gogh Museum
A friendly exchange rate (so even I can afford to have fun)
    Very stylish women (hmmm)

And when I travel, I always meet dutch travellers -- no matter where -- Africa/Central America/ USA -- doesn't matter. The dutch and the germans are sure to be there. And always well read and interesting too.

And the dutch travellers have the rep of being cheap (hope this doesn't offend -- but I view it a compliment -- when a relentless vendor won't leave you alone, just tell them you're a student from Holland, and they know they're beat..)..

    Travel bug biting again.

I usually think two things. First, why does a country need two completely different names? Second, why in the heck am I thinking about the Netherlands?

    Cheese.
    Tulips.
    Pretty girls (Meisje :)).
    Oranje.
    Amsterdam (beautiful).
    Supper Club.
    Coffee Shops.
    Red Light District.
    Canals.
Very slow trailers and caravans with yellow numberplates blocking German highways :D.
Flat (if the polar caps keep melting at that pace, we might have all the Dutch in Germany soon, God beware :p).
Friendly people, but, like a lot of French and British people as well, often seem to have resentments against Germans (moffen).
Always great soccer teams with probably better players than Germany, but will never win a world championship and will always envy Germany for their championships :D.
1974. 1988. 1990. Johan Cruyff. Marco van Basten. Ruud Gullit. Frank Rijkard (the spitter!). Dennis Bergkamp. Hans van Breukelen (damn I could not stand that guy). Jaap Staam. The Koeman brothers (could not stand Ronald Koeman either, he wiped his butt with a German player's jersey). Ruud van Nistelroy. I could go on and on - so many great players and beautiful style of football. Ajax Amsterdam. PSV Eindhoven.
Dutch (and Scandinavian) people speak the best English in Europe (although with a funny accent as well).

Overall, I like The Netherlands and the Dutch people (especially the girls :)).

I picture it as a chill and peaceful place. Their cities are like Rembrandt paintings with brick roads and semi-aged buildings with children playing across the street. Their countryside is littered with greenery and some hills (I didn't know the Netherlands were flat). Of course there's modern cities with the "Euro look", but the tourist traps would be were I spend most of my time...

I wish I could visit Europe right now country by country... :(

I think of amazing trance music from the likes of Dutchmen Ferry Corsten, Armin Van Buuren, and DJ Tiesto!!!

Of course, who can forget all the great soccer teams like Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord, etc . . .

Oh yeah, Heineken and Amstel too :)

on some occasions that happens, but to many times the last couple of years somebody died.there are crazy people here.but overal holland is pretty friendly.

no that does not offend me.i know dutch people are cheap.people from belgium even have jokes about us being cheap.and you have the frase a dutch date or something?

holland is a part of the netherlands, and because amsterdam and rotterdam is in it alot of foreign people cal the netherlands Holland.

yeah i live in a part of holland that would flooded if we didn't have a dam:(
the biggest reason people from holland do not like germans is not because of WW2 but because you beat us to many times with socces 1974 if you say anything about it in holland than everybody is sad again, that is why 1988 was so importent to us dutchman.

yes we are proud of them, they are verry popular in Holland.a friend of mine goes to alot of partys where they play.

lol how many speedingtickets did you have in holland???or have you never been inn holland.that way the germans help our economie with driving to fast.we like to drive in germany no speeding tickets:D

i live in a modern town.but if i go east i'm even surprised how peacefull it is.

and yes dutch woman have alot of class and style.they dress verry trendy:D

I think of a country where the people learn several foreign languages from the time they are children, and how I envy that because the U.S. is so backwards-ass in that respect. Here in the U.S., with less urgency to learn languages, the process usually starts much later, and you have to take the initiative, and, therefore, learning becomes mechanical, rather than natural.
