I know there is a stock thread somehwere, but I don't have a search function. I'm sorta beginner to trading stocks. There is one I'm interested in and I wanted some imput from some of the more experience traders out there. The ticker is SVU. I'm thinking this may be the right time to buy. I'm not sure if it's bottomed out yet, but I don't think it will stay in the single digits forever. The dividend looks pretty good as well. The biggest set back is the enormous debt. (188m cash on hand, 7.68B debt). It would be somewhat risky, but I'm thinking it could pay off a couple years from now. So, whats your opinions? Buy? Stay away?
I've got a stock question. My neice has a school project in which she needs a list of stocks to invest in for the next 9 weeks. They have to be actual stocks that are available. What are some she should have her group invest in?
You guys are a hoot. Just find some volatile penny stocks. No one remembers average people. Just go all or nothing. It's not realy money anyways.
it's certainly close to their bottom historically...but their fundamentals are not super solid. could be worth a gamble
Well, they bought out albertsons which is why I think they are so much in debt. They replaced that ceo with a new one, and they have paying their debt down lately.
true but that was almost 5 years ago, granted, the last few years have not been the best time to be paying off significant debt. Like i said, it seems like its bottomed out by looking at it's history and may be worth a shot to buy and hold for a year. do you know the market well? i assume, like everything else, this markethas been down over the last couple years and is potentially geared for a rebound.
I'm not by any means anywhere close to be an expert, but it seems like the market has rebounded fairly decent. I did have some really nice/lucky picks (bought fcx at 13.50 (price after split), kerx (2.70), emr (31.00), mtw (5.00), wnr (4.70), rcrc (7.20). So far my "guesses" have been fairly decent, but that probably has more due to timing. Jumped in at Dec 2008, and anyone would have made money then. I bought another high debt stock in MTW and it has performed really well.
