That's cool. Who are your instructors? When I was there I took the course using the 250cc Suzuki. That thing is a lot different than my 650cc bike. I don't think I could have gone through some of those drills on my big bike. Good luck
You fell during your MSF class on a 250 and you want to buy that. Make sure you have a couple grand in the bank for extra fairings and a really good helmet. LOL I've been riding bikes all my life and I will be the first to tell anyone that bikes are really dangerous.
course is gay, the instructors are stupid for the most part, i have the todd dude, hes a ****ing douche
just because i fell during my first curve must mean im a awful driver n i cant handle a 600cc. Exactly
You're inexperienced and can't handle a Supersport. I'm not saying it to be rude. New riders on supersports often die. Get something smaller, preferably without fairings.
600cc isnt a super sports bike. New riders on super sports bikes dont die, dont throw random garbage out there.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport_bike Dude, I ride a SV1000, I ride a lot, and I know a lot of people who ride. I've done 2000-mile road trips, and I've put 10,000 miles on a bike in a summer. I see dozens of teenagers start on supersports every year. It's so much better for their ego than starting out on a 250 or 500, or even a 650 twin. But supersports are the hardest bikes to ride well that are still being made. An SV650 is the absolute limit for a new rider, and even that's dumber than starting on a 250 or 500. There are two things that happen to new riders that start on supersports: 1. They crash badly, hurt themselves badly, and never ride again. 2. They crash less badly, scare themselves, and never ride again. You came on here for advice about that bike, and all the motorcycle riders told you that it was too much, and you try to argue with us. My advice again: Get a used 250 or 500 and learn to ride it well. Either is way more bike than you can use right now, and the 250s are a ton of fun. All the best racers come from the small bike classes. Or don't. Either way, I'm done with bike advice for you.
im not auguring with you on purpose, most starters who ride a 600 do not die or get into a huge accident. thats all im saying, i know plenty and plenty of noobs who got the Ninja650 and are perfect and have been riding for awhile. There were two class, an advanced motorcycle class and a Beg. and i asked every1 in the advanced what bike they got when they first drove and most of them got a 500 and above. Stop using the scare tactic when you're posting bs. thanks
just so you know people sometimes do die on bikes. my sister in law died. my mom and stepdad have had numerous friends die. or get hurt in some way even a few paralyzed. and many other stories i could tell. no not most people get hurt when they get something that big with no exp. BUT it will obviously decrease your chances on getting on something smaller at first. he wasnt saying that you cant get that bike just that it would generally be smarter to get something smaller at first. you dont have to be an ass about it.
I dont think i ever said that people dont die in bikes, people die in their sleep, die in their car, die at their jobs, die watching tv. 61% of the fatalities on a bike are due to the rider not wearing a helmet, and 1/2 of the deaths are due to the driver having alcohol in his body. Yes you can be the best driver and still die, i was never saying that ppl dont die but the poster said; he posted a bull**** comment then tried to back himself up. ---------- but yes i might still go with a 250 or a ninja500r just so i can master the art of riding b4 i go to a 650cc. But just dont post garbage **** like most beginners die or some ****.
What are you talking about? A GSX-R 600 is definitely a superbike, and ER doctors and nurses call them donor bikes for a reason.
Yes it does mean you are an awful rider. Riding a 250 is like riding a bicycle. Not to say you can't get any better. Calling the course "gay" doesn't speak much about your skills or attitude though. I took that course after riding motorcycles for 20 years and I still learned new things from it. You drop that gsx-r 600 going around the curve and the best outcome that can happen is that you spend $1750 on new fairings a bottle of neosporin for the road rash.
A GSXR 600 is twice the bike as a Ninja 650. A Ninja 650 has 65-ish horsepower, and it has a lot smoother power delivery. A GSXR 600 has 115 hp and a scary power delivery. Still, a Ninja 650 was too much for my brother-in-law. He crashed right in front of me and totalled his bike because he couldn't handle it. A Ninja 650 isn't as good a choice as a 250 or 500, but it's a lot better choice than the GSXR.
Sounds like a lot of good advice from the experienced riders. To each his own but I'd definitely listen.
are you gonna be the guy i hate who whips past me at 80 mph and drives like a bat out of hell? get something else...imho...a lot of people have already stereotyped you just for riding that model. i don't see anyone on a harley blowing by me. ah...do what you want. i may be mumbling some unpleasantries when you pass by, however. lol
You sound like a complete *******. One of my friends, who was 19, died two weeks ago while driving a Ninja 650. He lost control of it and crashed into oncoming traffic. Your whole attitude needs to change before you get on the road. Stop acting like safety lessons are gay and that you're too manly to start on a beginner bike...you're a beginner! Get a grip!
ya i sound like a complete ******* by telling others they're going die by getting bike. when "most" of them dont die. and i didnt mean to say eh course was gay, obviously it wasnt as it taught me how to ride but the instructors that i had were god awful. Where did your friend live?
ive never gotten into traffic problems with my civic and its been 3 yrs. I drive safely so you can stop stero typing. Im not that type of rider. Ill be the biker with all his gear on at 100degrees riding the speed limit or below it. Id rather be hot then bleed.
so i came to my sense and decided not to get a GSX yet, any other suggestions? And no im not getting a ninja250r but everything else is game
Sportbike? Your best choices are GSX500 or Ninja500. If you've got enough cash, the coolest beginner bike is the Triumph Scrambler.
