Acie Law looks like another Rafer Alston right now with less handle. No indicator that he is gonna be a player. Just cuz he went to A&M don't mean nuth'n in the league.
Dallas is looking at adding a Carmelo Anthony caliber player through Howard. What do we have to offer? If we trade McGrady for a player that doesn't create for others we take a huge step back. Being from TAMU does something. It means he knows his way around a sheep.
I despise players that are trouble off the court and have no desire to win. Josh Howard is extremely talented, but a punk. I wouldn't want him near our team.
Josh Howard is a pretty good player(didn't Tmac praise this guy when he was in the draft?), but if the Mavs are looking to blow the team up, I rather go for Terry. He would be a really good fit. He has the attitude and the great shooting ability to be a perfect fit PG.
Of all the players mentioned... Josh Howard: Yeah, he would certainly improve the roster if the Rockets didn't have to give up some of its more intrigal pieces, like Battier's defense, but what else could the Rockets realistically give up? It's not a fire sale in Big D, and they're gonna want an equitable trade not only in dollars but in quality of product as well. Add the pot-smoking thingamajig along with the glaring perception that he doesn't have the best focus when it comes to championship ball and there you go. Physical upgrade, sure, but maybe not a psychological one. Part of the Rox's problem right now is that they need to learn HOW to win big in the post-season. Mike Miller: I like his game. It's pretty much what the Rockets need coming off the bench. I don't know how much he would cost, though, and considering that Memphis is a division rival, I don't think they would be all that hot-to-trot to trade him inside the division--at least, now without making sure they got something good in return (see the 2007 trade featuring Battier and Rudy Gay). The Matrix: Would work well as a defensive addition, can hit the three, run the floor and attack the backboards. But he ain't cheap. At all. Ron Artest: Other than being a borderline nutjob and the type that doesn't seem to be all that happy about being a non-primary or secondary option, he's got game. Good strength, size and toughness. Can hit the jump shot and bruise inside. Can create offense for himself. If only for that rat trap between his ears, I'd say do it!! Gilbert Arenas: my least favorite of the suggestions. Chucks too much, doesn't play good team or man-on-man defense and can be a veritable black hole. Just don't think he'd fit in Houston. Kobe Bryant: Well duh! Only problem is that why would the Lakers give him up? The answer: they wouldn't. I personally think that Mike Miller and The Matrix are the two best options out there, assuming the Rockets are that aggressive in the off-season and can work something out with the cap.
The following guys, if they ever became a Rocket I would cease being a fan: Josh Howard Dirk Nodickski Jerry Stackhouse Jason Terry Eric Dampier Carlos Boozer Andre Kirilinko
Maybe he doesn't care about what people think of his braces. See when you smoke the pot, you tend to put things in better perspective. They both do the same thing, so why not use the extra money you save to buy some more weed?
I personally asked him about this and he said he had a cross bite that invisalign would not be able to fix. He had to get the traditional "clear" braces. Apple Orthodontix is sponsoring him so he didn't have to pay for any of these treatments either way. After he got his braces off a couple of years ago he refused to wear the retainer and his teeth became crooked again. This past year he was actually wearing invisalign for a few months. Once those finally came off they gave him a permanent retainer. I think he got rid of those too. What a weird situation. And Rockets don't have anything to offer so forget it. We all know Cuban couldn't care less about the LT so won't mind taking on Redd or Carmelo. I'm sure he'll look at those type of players before even considering any scrubs. I still think he'll remain a Mav though.
I don't think he'll be traded to us or what ever but I do hope if he is traded, please trade him to the east. I really hope Dallas will not think of trading him to the any team in west.
you're right, this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that I went to A&M (I'm not a dentist), other than the fact that it gave me an opportunity to scout him as a player. for the record, i was a "2 percenter" in that i didn't go to football games or basketball games or do any of the A&M traditions. i wanted to go to UT, but my parents wanted me to go to A&M because my older sister was already there. i know how it looks (with my moniker and all), but it has nothing to do with the fact that he's from A&M. believe me - i would never want the Rockets to pick up Antoine Wright, DeAndre Jordan, or Martellus Bennett (he used to play basketball, too). just b/c you're from A&M doesn't mean **** to me. if you've got game, you've got game. Acie Law isn't underachieving nor is he undersized. he's 6'3". just for sh!ts and giggles: Aaron Brooks - 6'0" Bobby Jackson - 6'1" Rafer Alston - 6'2" so trading Brooks for him would actually give us back our tallest PG. (also, if you think Acie Law is undersized, what do you think about Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Baron Davis, Tony Parker, Steve Nash, & Sam Cassell? they're all 6'3" or shorter. ) Acie Law is a slasher that CAN create his own shot - it just so happens that the whole offense at A&M was based around him. he would create for himself and for others - he actually played the TMac role at A&M - except that HE CAN HIT HIS FREE THROWS! it's apparent we're not gonna be able to trade away TMac and get equal value back, so it's time we start shoring-up our other positions. i love Skip, but at the end of the season, management is gonna look at 2 positions - back-up PG and back-up C. Brooks is a good kid, and i know he's gonna eventually become a great shooter with more experience, but taller PGs are gonna always abuse him. he has talent, and at the moment, he probably has more value around the league than Acie Law (on account of the playing time Aaron got), so this is about the best time to trade him. i agree - Acie Law doesn't have the handle that Rafer Alston has. i'm not sure if it's b/c of his And1 days or what, but Rafer's damn good at ball-handling. his turnovers are low as hell. that being said, Rafer can't be the go-to player the way Acie Law can be. in these twilight years of TMac, we need to bring in someone clutch for the future, instead of waiting until it's too late. i still like Rafer as our starting PG, but the time to trade for Acie Law is now, before his value shoots up next year.
First, my bad. Though I am somewhat confused that you chose the name AggieDentist when you're not a dentist and you don't give a damn about A&M. Second, the above statement is something I disagree with. I actually think the number one priority is going to be back up 2/3. T-Mac desperately needs somebody that can ease his load and Luther Head doesn't cut it. Obviously another PG (unless they think they'll be comfortable with Brooks by next season) and a back up center are going to be on the to do list too, but in my mind, Jackson and Mutumbo (though old) are a hell of a lot stronger off the bench than Luther. That has got to be addressed.
Acie Law is looking more and more like a shaky pick at this point. Coming into the league I thought he would end up being a decent player. Definitely not star material but he seemed fundamentally sound, capable of playing the point and also seemed to possess the intangibles you look for. Now, after a year of watching nearly every Hawks game i'm a bit baffled. He looks nothing the above player I just described. He can't shoot and he's turnover prone. Everytime he checks into the game he plays hesitant and looks afraid to screw up. Mind you, this is a guy playing for the Atlanta fricken Hawks. Imagine him in a real offense with lofty expectations. I just don't think he would cut it here.
i wont do the trade because he is addicted to drugs, and this might be an adverse influence in a team.
Too late. http://www.clutchfans.net/players/avery_johnson/ The Houston Rocket Career of Avery Johnson Position: Point Guard DOB: Thursday, March 25, 1965 Height: 5-11 Weight: 180 pounds College: Southern University, 1988 Jersey Worn: #6
btw, taking on a 9 mill contract is a bit much for the rockets at this point of the current roster. you'd almost have to include Battier in the deal.
