I think Steve's problem is he rely on his athletisism too much and never worked on his game, not because of Yao or JVG or whatever. He never really improved since his rookie year and his shooting is getting worse. Now he is starting to get old and can't get to the basktet as easy as he used to, his effectiveness is going down easily.

Superstars = talent + hard work. Steve only got one.

Ah thanks - I did not notice that the italized one represents the poll choice I made.

Interesting enough, I voted for the first option as well.

What was I thinking? The only person in Yao's league of those 3 is Kobe :D

Shaq and Duncan are now slightly behind Yao. Who woulda thunk it?

See, the thing with Stevie is you used to hear about how much he works in the summer, how he's a gym rat, and you see how much love he had for the game. He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed. But he seemed to have a lot passion for the game since he came in the league and always played with a chip on his shoulder. He's being an underdog his whole life and he fought through that. But a large part of his game comes from his swagger that he brings, but in the last 3 years, we saw his role diminish, his confidence (I think this was the biggest part of his effectiveness) gone, and basically his world flipped upside down.

I also think after he got his max contract, he lost a little bit of the underdog me against the world attitude he had, then when his cockiness was checked by all the criticism(not that there's anything wrong with that, I was against the idea in the past but I must admit now that his game and Yao's don't mesh that well), finally he lost bonds/loyalty when he was traded and then his best friend was traded. He really lost all the intangibles that made him special (there are more intangibles in basketball than just bball IQ). He still had his athletecism but seem to have lost his heart and, his passion and his will some time ago.
