Coke? I don't get it. Coke is Coca-cola.

    Soda is soda.

My favorite COKE is Dr. Pepper. I'm gonna get some and go to the WASHATERIA. :p

Edit: My brother in law from Cleveland calls it pop and everyone laughs at him when he says it. Just sounds so strange.

Born and raised in Commufornia, but conditioned to call them Cokes, passed down to my Virgina born mother by my southern maternal grandparents. Sometimes I like to say soda.

I grew up in Amarillo and we always did the generic "Coke means any kind of soft drink" thing. Around the time I was about 20, I made a decision to start using the term soda. I must've thought it was funny or something, but it stuck with me. So that's what I use now.

My Canadian chiropractor was complaining about how people around here (Dallas) use Coke when they mean "Pop" (as she said).

She's also confused by the term "Chicken Fried Chicken"

I'd never heard the term Washateria until I visited Arkansas. I didn't know it was in use anywhere in Texas.

For people who call it "coke", let me get this straight, would you call a sprite, 7-up or mountain dew a "coke"? I mean I can understand using it for a pepsi and even root beer or dr pepper, since they're variations of cola's. But using "coke" for all soft drinks seems weird to me.

In Port Arthur we say soda water. The old people in my family called a carbonated soft drink a "dope". I have no idea why-I wondered if it had to do with the original Coca Cola formula of urban legend

Don't forget to take the feeder on the way to the Washateria.

    I say coke for everything.

    Me: want a coke?

    You: Sure.

Me: I have sprite, dr pepper, pepsi, coca cola...

I say Coke. My Grandmother says cold drink. You have to know that when she offers you a cold drink, she's offering you a Coke (like possibly Dr. Pepper).

    Coke.

    Like some others have said:

    -Want a coke?
    -Sure
    -OK, what do you want?
    -Got any diet pepsi?
    -Yes. Yes, I do.

Much of my extended family is from Oklahoma and they ALL say 'pop'. I thought everyone up there said it.

Thanks for the laugh Kam =)

I say 'Soft Drink' when offering to someone. I mainly drink Coke, so when I say Coke, by golly, I mean Coke!

    I say soda.

I really hate how people use coke as a generic term. If someone asks me what kind of coke I want, to me that means do I want Coca cola, diet coca cola, or cherry coca cola.

You buy stuff from the "Washate" tribe. :)

    It's a laundromat, a washateria, a laundry mart.
