that is easily the weirdest thing ever. davis NEVER had another season even close to like he had in an astros uniform. they got harnisch and schilling in return!! and THAT is why you can't root for the astros??!! baffling...confounding, even.
Well that and my gramps grew up in Chicago and he's the one who taught me how to play ball, went to all my games, and taught me about how to love the Cubs, who were on everyday on WGN. But for a kid, having your favorite player traded away, no matter what the consequences, is going to leave a big stain in your heart. Kids don't understand baseball as business, they understand love for a team and a guy. Not to confounding if you ask me.
i hear ya...but then how can you be a fan of any team where your favorite player plays? save a few exceptions, they all get traded or find a way to leave at some point.
Well, I'm older know so I understand all that business stuff. It still leaves a little sadness in my heart, like the day I knew the Rockets did the right thing in getting Clyde, but I also was sad that there would be no more OT.
I've just asked for cash from everyone, to go towards my new monitor. Sony HS94P If anyone would like to contribute I take payment via paypal.
Yeah, I think the 55+ million GBA's sold worldwide seemed like a market Sony wanted to get something from. Nintendo seems to be "surviving" based on their handheld market dominance and I'm sure Sony doesn't want them getting easy money that they instead could be getting. An interesting thing I read a while back was that they do expect to get a profit from the PSP and pretty quickly too, at least compared to the PS2. I don't know if they meant the overall PSP division (PSP, games, accessories, etc.), or the actual PSP unit itself. Perhaps with their marketing, they could. The PSP bundle, which I read was pretty much a waste of $50, sold out quicker than the base unit in some places in Japan when it launched. That's a nice way to keep early losses at a minimum. The DS still has a good chance of "winning" though. It seems to have been selling well and Nintendo has had to up their expectations of units sold by early next year (want to say something like from 3 to 5 million). The PSP would have had an uphill battle had the DS sold at an average rate, let alone one that exceeds expectations. I too want a PSP, although unless my parents want to pay $500 just to get a Japanese PSP with no games, I think I'll just have to wait until the American launch. I was only mildly interested in the PSP at first, but some of the games announced for it, or yet to be announced in some cases (come on GTA! ), have really spurred my interest in the machine, along with the price and ok battery life. I wouldn't mind checking out FF7: Advent Children on it either (awesome new trailer out for AC too btw). Too bad I have to wait for all that. Oh well, I should also know a crapload more about Xbox 2, PS3, and maybe Revolution by the time I get a PSP, so it should be a pretty awesome late Christmas present. I guess all I really want for Christmas is one of those tin cans of popcorn. That one thread about it a little while back got me really hungry for one.
