I like this team, but I don't think we can win the championship unless a lot of things fall in place. So if not - what do we need. This is what I think:

    1. Another shot blocker - once Yao goes out, the basket is the opponents playground. A shot blocking 4 would be great, but that would mean giving up Scola or Landry. So a shot blocking 3 to replace Battier would be gold!

    2. A playmaking Shooting guard. Say Tracy McGrady healthy and playing with head on straight. Probably not going to happen, so maybe a trade for another 2 guard.

    3. A backup center with some offensive skills. We all love Hayes on defense, but get a shot will ya!

    4. One year where we stay healthy. Every team has injuries, true, but it seems like the Rockets "stars" can never have a season without missing significant time.

So that's it...how about Brandon Roy and Aldridge from the Trailblazers? Think they'll take McGrady, Hayes and Battier plus a bucket of chicken wings? :) :)

A real good PG will be enough.

a shot blocking 3? anyone in your mind? shane's shot blocking ain't bad.

health is just luck and something we can't control. a better pg is the highest priority imo. and i can't wait to give lowry a try.

we need an efficient scorer on the perimeter, someone who can shoot and slash. so far von wafer is our best player at this but he can be inconsistent.

A Superstar scorer who can close out games. We have the rest, but since T-Mac is out and no longer a superstar player. We need that, I doubt we will ever get one though. Sorry being pessimistic though.

A healthy T-Mac with the current team all healthy and it's done, it's won.

You're right...you don't think Artest can fill that role? I don't. TMac would at least pass to his teammates at the end of quarters or games, but RonRon doesn't look like he knows he has teammates.
    PS it's not pessimistic it's real-a-listic

So you think we had everything whem TMac was healthy? I still think we need another shot blocker. (Deke?)

We need Tmac but he has to come off the bench. He can't be the starter!!! If he want to be the starter...then trade him for someone that can come off the bench to provide spark.

    To win 16 postseason games.

    /smartass remark

A stud perimeter player would be my real answer. Think Brandon Roy, Dwayne Wade, etc... basically a more clutch and efficient version of a healthy McGrady.

Artest is extremely inconsistent on offense, If he's feeling it. Of course he can close out games. Yao is always fatigued because the offense is relied on him too much and he isn't conditioned well enough yet.

I would love to have a guy like Danny Granger, Joe Johnson, etc... On this team to help out Yao.

Over the last 3 seasons, best shot-blocking SFs (the top two probably play more frequently at the four position) who've played at least 2000 total minutes:

    Code:
    rnk SF min blk%
    1 Josh Smith 7227 5.4%
    2 Andrei Kirilenko 5593 4.6%
    3 Jamario Moon 3791 3.4%
    4 Renaldo Balkman 2497 2.8%
    5 Travis Outlaw 5373 2.7%
    6 Shawn Marion 7116 2.6%
    7 Danny Granger 7544 2.3%
    8 Rudy Gay 7217 2.0%
    [B]9 Shane Battier 7257 1.9%[/B]
    10 Wilson Chandler 2607 1.9%
    11 LeBron James 8497 1.9%
    12 Gerald Wallace 6905 1.9%
    13 Rodney Carney 2964 1.8%
    14 Jared Jeffries 3482 1.7%
    15 Al Thornton 4372 1.7%

no, obviously t-mac is not an efficient scorer anymore and hasn't been for 2 years. we need a better version of von wafer. JR smith would be a great fit.

I would love to have Joe Johnson on this team, I'm not sure if he's an untouchable player over there in Atlanta Though.
