Actually several of the trades ARE official and the draft picks have traded teams...officially. Houstons is not official yet because Battier is a BYC player.
This deal is done and there's nothing else we can do. It will become official on July 12. They made the agreement before we made our #8 pick. Rockets probably thought we would trade Reddick + Swift for Battier or Brewer + Swift for Battier. Once Gay slipped there was nothing else we could do. Rockets management screwed this up BIG TIME. I'm still waiting on some sort of an explanation from the organization to the media. I hope someone gets fired in the upcoming days.

I'm tellin ya STROMILE is the key. He can veto this trade just by going out and saying "I don't want to come back to Memphis". However, they'd probably just take him and waive him anyway, they only want Gay. Battier can say that he doesn't want to come here, we'd be reluctant to get him. Or failed physicals always work.
So if CD and JVG suddenly want Gay instead of Battier now, they cant back out of the trade? Or is it possible to change the deal to Howard + Gay...? or change it to Gay+Swift <--> Battier + Lowry?
I'd totally chip in money to do this. I doubt it would change anything with respects to the trade itself, but it would show the Rockets that their loyal fans mean business. Plus, as you said, the publicity alone would be priceless, especially if the national media gets wind of it. After all, if JVG can pressure the front office to get his way, why can't we as fans (as the ones who pay their salaries) do the same by publicly humiliating the team? I'm not asking for the Rockets to consult with the fans before making critical personnel (or operations) decisions. All I want is for the team to at least consider and factor in the effect that these decisions will have on fans/consumers before executing them. It's what we call in marketing "Total Customer Experience" (TCE), and it's apparent the Rockets do not employ this methodology. So, now, due to the team's ineptness and blatant lack of regard for its customers (can we get at least get an explanation?), fans want to burn down Toyota Center. Way to damage your brand equity, geniuses. At least the Texans went into full spin mode following their draft.
Without the Memphis trade, the Rockets might have picked Brewer (or traded down). For all we know, the Rockets pointedly do not want Gay. Why would the Rox rescind the trade under those conditions?
What about the breakfast with the coach thing? Can we protest in front of JVG. If he doesn't agree.......
Yes this trade still has a chance to get cancelled, the fan need to let LES and CD know they are for keeping Rudy. They need to also see a copy of the poll on front page of the CF.net(I have pointed that out to the front office today but does not hurt to doit again. Let them know 80% to 90% of fan are against it,It should be done from now till Monday or Tuesday. Believe it!!!!!!!!!! It can be done!!! PS:Lets also show our players you can do alot when you believe.
This trade isn't going to get cancelled. What bites is that when JVG is shown the door after next sesaon. Rockets will be left with an old and ugly-ball styling JVG team.
