And there ain't none out there. The projected #1 is a 6'8" freshman who weights 210 lbs and is struggling with his shot.
As indicated it's what the rockets need, but they are unlikely to get it. That kind of talent is available every 5-10 years.
They need to rebuild the squad and start a new era of Rockets basketball. This team is built around Yao and sadly he will never be able to stay healthy. They will probably improve and stay competitive but even with a semi-healthy Yao they aren't strong enough to compete with the best in the NBA. Another 42-40 season would be devastating for the future so they need to consider moving individual players for cap space, draft picks and young talent.
The need length, size, athleticism in the middle not enough defense in the paint. They need to move on from the Yao era unless he resigns for cheap. This team is not a contender yet just a playoff team at best. I don't think they'll ever be a contender as long as Yao remains on this team. They need a closer who can close out games. They need an enforcer in the middle who will block/change shots and grab rebounds. This team is not a contender even if they turn it around they'll still be pretenders.
Oh and they need to rid themselves of the veterans and apply youth who fit my criteria. They need 2-way players that play both sides of the ball. They need scrappers who throw elbows around when they get rebounds. This team is a pretender until then.
More like you don't know what you got till its gone But honestly this question is so open-ended, each decision can have multiple impacts on the team. Short-term: Do a trade for Iggy/S-Jax/Granger. This will lessen Adelman's buden significantly Long-term: Let Rick Adelman's contract expire and look for another guy. A coach who sucks at making court decisions shouldn't work with a GM who follows $ball.
Well our entire team is built around a dominant two way big man. So I am going to go ahead and say we need a dominant two way big man.
I voted a trade. But I want to mention, The Rockets need: -to stay healthy. This is the big question mark. -to have better defense This will get better when Yao is back. -to shorten the rotation and get a 4th qrt punch. This I hope we get threw a trade at the deadline. - to have at least a 23 game win streak. Yao's health is a real concern. This year will be the year if I can any longer keep hoping he gets healthy. If he can't stay healthy I hope the team moves on.
Andre wont help the Rockets. He's a nice player, but over here at CF, we over rate him. AI2 would is a good number 2 option and a great number 3 option. He would make the rockets better, yes. He wont bring us a championship. Oh and we're least likely to get Danny Granger as well, seeing as they look like they are actually getting better.
The Rockets desperately need to get out from under the Yao Ming injury albatross. I am so tired of this guy getting hurt. It is time to say goodbye and rebuild for the future. We will never win with Yao as our focal point because he can't stay healthy!!!!! I hope Morey realizes this now!!!!
Carmelo just hit a game winning shot at the buzzer to beat the Bulls. He just asked for the ball at the end of the game on consecutive possesions, it was what he really said in his interview right after the game ended, "I told my teammates to just get the game to the fourth quarter and I'll close it out". The Nuggets were without Billups and Melo recovering from the stomach flu. That's the type of closer we need and for those that say Carmelo has his flaws, yes he does but he also a guy who has no fear, especially in crunch time.
