Maybe Steve knows just as well as the next guy that RT can't design a half-decent play out of a timeout anyways - so why not just create on his own...

*as always, IHMO - pls do your own due diligence*

Rudy in the huddle: "OK, we're gonna call that play that got us into overtime against Philly. Eddie, you be the inbounder. Moochie goto the corner and Eddie will pass you the ball there. Mooch, it is very important that you dribble until you here the buzzer. Let's get to overtime fellas."

Wow, that was just bad timing on "KidROCKED's" post about Francis not having the Cajones to shoot a big shot.

I think Franc"hise" deserves an apology Kidrocked...

I'm sure Rudy's hurt, but happy. Sure we won, but in a season where the only thing that matters anymore is improing for next season, I think this was a setback.

I think Francis should be slapped with a fine. To make sure he doesn't do it again.

If Steve does it once, no problem. Maybe he was just feeling it. Or maybe he got carried away in the moment. If it becomes a pattern, however, I'd find it troublesome, since it would indicate a lack of discipline (duh ;) ).

In the post game interview Steve mentioned that Rudy signaled for a time out. I think Rudy does a good job of making sure how many timeouts are left. Plus I'm almost positive we still had at least one left, especially considering how fast the game went. (Less than 2 hours and 15 minutes)

He had NOTHING to lose by going for it. Kind of like Marino making that fake pass into the ground and the receiver catching the pass in the endzone.

This is WHAT we have been crying for all year, push it up and get some early offense.

I think it is ONLY a positive.

    1st Quarter
    (5:44) [HOU] Team Timeout: Regular
    2nd Quarter
    (5:24) [HOU] Team Timeout: Regular
    (0:05) [HOU] Team Timeout: Short
    3rd Quarter
    (5:22) [HOU] Team Timeout: Regular
    4th Quarter
    (7:24) [HOU] Team Timeout: Regular
    (3:01) [HOU] Team Timeout: Regular
    (0:34) [HOU] Team Timeout: Regular

The official rules allow for 6 full timeouts per game and 1 20 second timeout per half. If the timeouts from the official play-by-play are correct, the Rockets did have a 20 second timeout left. I could be wrong, but if the Rockets were out of timeouts, Rudy made a huge mistake, and Steve saved us from losing the game on a tech free throw. If you were watching Bill and Calvin, I think Bill thought the Rockets were out of timeouts, but after the game when he interviewed Steve he realized there was one left.

Thanks B, I couldn´t saw the game because here wasn´t on TV, that´s why I didn´t knew about the timeouts left.

From what you posted, the Rockets did have one timeout left (20 seconds). I think if Rudy wanted a timeout, Steve should have called it, at least Steve have the green light from the coach to make that kind of decisions in situations like that (I don´t even know if this is made in the NBA, I´m just assuming that from baseball, where some players have the green light to steal a base, for example)
