Conflict, dissension, disaster and panic is the constant state of things. Good times are taken for granted, bad times get all the attention. The perception of life flies by like the sunrises and sunsets behind the guy in the Time Machine. It's not that hard to be average.
You are getting bad advices from people. Sure there are some who BS their way thru life but that is not the formula for success. Do you think every kid could forsake school and BS their way thru? Do you think all the bosses at all the companies are gullible?
-Money isn't everything. Not even close. But it's definitely something. -There are no heroes. None. but... -There is beauty in our fragility, a tragic sort of beauty. -There is enough mystery and awe out there in the universe naturally; you don't need god to get that feeling.
-i used to think older people were generally trustworthy. the fact that there's so many dirty old men out there was a surprise. -it doesn't matter how much approval you receive from those around you, if you don't approve of and love yourself, you will be miserable. -life without belief in god is nowhere near as meaningless and scary as i thought it'd be. -birthdays really are not that big of a deal. -indian food is absolutely delicious. i used to be deathly afraid of it.
How much as a culture we are obsessed with "things" I mean I always knew that people liked new stuff and it was just normal to go shopping and come home with new things whether you need them or not, and whether you really had the money or not. But more and more I view it as a cultural problem...especially the car culture. The idea of spending 20%, 30%, or even more of income on a car every year (plus gas) gets more ridiculous to me every day.
- The "Real World" is far more difficult and unforgiving than you expect it to be when you're a teenager. Nobody is going to give you anything. You have to work for every single thing you want to achieve, and even then it's not guaranteed. I think this is one that most people in early adulthood have trouble grasping. - My parents are the most amazing people I've ever met. The older I get, the more I appreciate just how much they did for me.
Maybe i'm alone on this, but when i was young i never once thought that people could be so violent and vulgar to others. Never realized just how much ugliness lived in such a beautiful place.
i learned the reason i was always broke is not because i didn't make enough money, it's because i overspending on my credit cards trying to impress other people. even as a teenager or in my early twenties, i was trying to keep up with the jones. i'm amazed at people who never realize this. One never knows true freedom until the day he owes no one anything.
Are you serious, brah? Look how lame your posts sound, and how awesome mine sound. Who do you think the kids are gonna believe? You wanna throw at the patriot!?
That internet message boards allow everyone a voice no matter how crappy or puny their job or station in life is.... DD
Too many things, but I have got 5 minutes. -Time spent - spend as much time as you can with people you like, even if what you are doing is something you hate (kind of like being a parent or child, no?). You'll look back later and say "Boy, what a great time we had". "Your window of opportunity to have sex with college women is getting shorter". -Responsiblity - It means finding something you want to do, doing it and taking the abuse and rewards like a pro. Or it means throwing people under the bus when things go wrong and taking credit when things go well. So to speak "if you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen". No one likes counterfeit effort because it is misleading and can result in mishaps. So at one point I quit my job and told my supervisor "I just don't care". It was bold and honest but if I had stayed at the job I would have just been miserable, even though the money was twice what I am making now. -Excuses - People love to make excuses. You must avoid the quasi-semi-intellectual input like "money isn't everything" or "other people just don't understand". Don't let people fool you with good looks, a nice smelling perfume and a lie. -Three types of people - Those who know what's going on, those who need help to understand, and those who either care not or cannot be taught what is going on. -Look at yourself beforre you throw stones- Honestly, your philosophy on life is how you live not what you preach, be cautious of those who preach. -Sex- Yes, it is not always enjoyable.
