I don't base a successful postseason for this Rocket team on wins and losses, but rather on team play. If we are executing our offense, foricng the pace and playing our game, but find ourselves getting swept I would be ok with that. This is really the same situation we had back in the 2004 playoffs against the Lakers in the 1st round. We were a young team who found our way back to the playoffs after missing the playoffs for 3 straight seasons. Even though we lost in 5 to LA, we played a great series and were in every game with a good chance of winning a few of the early games (to this day I thought Jackson was going to bust that corner 3 to win game 1 I believe it was). As long as our team is able to play and perform and stick with there stronger opponent (whoever it may be) just like the 03-04 team, I will be happy.
Well, just making it to the playoffs is a success based on how nobody expected the Rockets to be where they are right now. But if you put past predictions aside and look solely at the team as it is, I think his team is fully capable of winning two games, and that would be a successful showing in the playoffs for such a young team. But really, just getting there, regardless of the results, is a success.
Win at least one game or lose in a competitive fashion would be fine. Let's not forget the Spurs swept the entire first and second round last year and OKC is one of the favorites to win the Championship. Win one or lose close games would be an accomplishment. Just don't get blown out for 4 games.
This is my initial thought but I wan to see them defend the home court. Love this team and the development over this season has been fantastic.
Making it to the playoffs would make this a successful season. If we win a game or two, I'd be ecstatic. I think we have the potential to upset someone but we would have to be playing our best with minimal mistakes and lapses.
I voted for making the playoffs being enough, and it is. I'll be excited and optimistic heading forward no matter the playoff outcome (a horrific injury to one of our core a la Derrick Rose excepted). But I would like the team to not get swept. I think we should be able to manage that much against anyone. 2 or more wins and I'd be ecstatic.
Before season start, everyone has agreed that we are a lottery team to learn and grow. At the Harden signing, some of us wondered whether we are overpaying him and whether the move would put us at 14th pick again. 2/3 way through the season, we were all pretty sure James Harden was a steal, and we were on our way to playoffs, AS we are learning and growing. Comparing to off-season status/expectation, everything happens now is a success. But your appetite just grows with situation. Once we are in playoffs, we want some more success. Winning at least one game is a good start. No matter how great our opponent might be, they will not play all games with the same intensity facing a lowly seeded Rockets team. The SF-Yao team won one game against the F4 Lakers. I will be happy that we are in playoffs, and looking forward to next season, as everyone further improves, but I would be a little bit disappointed if we get swept.
I think success in the play offs is our starters putting up a fight, and a rookie being able to step up his game on the main stage
Wins don't matter. I just wanna see Lin, Harden, Asik, and Parsons play well and most importantly some consistency to show that our style can work.
One or more games is success. Even getting swept is fine as long as they're playing hard and not getting blown out every game. I think this team has it in them to make a six game series.
Having a winning season with the youngest team in the league should be considered a major success... However, given the history of this team, not making the playoffs would put a huge damper on that success. So, yes, making the playoffs with this current team, in these current conditions alone is a HUGE accomplishment, and frankly should be considered historic. Even if they win A GAME in the postseason, its just gravy.
it's been a success this reg season. as for playoffs, make it a series. one thing to win one gm, but if we were down 0-3 and got the one win, it's another. hopefully, we steal home court adv.
Before we got Harden it was anything but 14. After acquiring Harden it was make the playoffs, but the Rockets raised the bar. Now, they should win at least 1 or 2 playoff games. The last thing I want them to do is get swept and be labeled a bunch of chokers. That pretender label will be given to Houston. Harden already has that choke label attached to him because of what happened last year against Miami in the finals. Everybody forgot what happened in the WCF.
