I ran into Rudy at a store before the championship years and had a brief conversation with him. I'm envious that you had some beers with the guy. My dream would be to sit down for an hour or two with Rudy and Murph and talk Rockets over some beers. I would have listed the Dream first, but I don't think he drinks. (would still love to talk to him over a pot of tea!)

    Scottie Pippen, who's with me?

Barkley is number 1, followed by Ron and Kenny Smith

Mario Elie - I've met him before and also heard him on the radio. Seems like he's got a very laid back personality (OFF the court...) and we would probably get along just fine.

Rudy - I hear he's a big live music fan. And he once listed The Commitments as one of his favorite movies. That's one of my favorites too.

Brent Barry - Saw him on Pros vs Joes and he seems to have a VERY dry sense of humor, which I can really appreciate.

Jeff Van Gundy - Seems very intelligent and outspoken. It would be fun to pick his brain for a while, especially on non-basketball topics.

I can't believe people are listing Hakeem. He's my all-time favorite athlete, but he would probably be kind of a drag to drink with.

I'm going with Rudy too. That's at least 4 decades of conversation!

Past players who I've met that seemed smug: Mario, Horry...
Players who came across as cool: Hakeem, Cassel

Granted some of the them I met for a few seconds (worked at airport)...For
some reason losing Landry made me lose a lot of heart and connection about the Rockets. sorry, the truth.

If I picked one though it would have to be Barkley to sit and have beer with.

Artest, Barkley, and Battier would top my list closely followed by Mount Mutumbo.

Oh ya, and Morey - good call on that. I run into famous people "around" fairly often (mostly musicians as I'm a musician) and for the most part I don't really care to say anything but I would go absolute fanboy if I saw Morey. I would pay good money to just shoot the bull about hoops for a few hours with that guy.
