I've recently went to see the Marc Anthony Viviendo tour. My wife had just bought us advance tickets to the Metallica 72 Season world tour coming up in August. A birthday gift for me. I cannot wait for that!!

Got back from the Sick New World fest in Vegas over the weekend. It was incredible. Had to pick and choose and split some sets because two grouping of stages were a 5 minute walk, 10 minutes when it got crowded.

    Amazing sets that I saw:
    • POD
    • Lacuna Coil
    • Stabbing Westward <--- was actually very surprised by this band live, they sounded so much better than their recorded material. Singer's voice was amazing and the band was on point. Would pay to see them again.
    • Filter
    • KMFDM
    • Incubus
    • Deftones
    • Ministry
    • Alien Ant Farm (missed a good chunk due to poor line management)
    • Narrow Head <---good young band, they had a sound issue (everyone did) and the lead singer said 'this is our first festival!' Good set.
    Decent sets:
    • Orgy
    • Coal Chamber
    • Sevendust
    • Turnstile
    • Chevelle
    • Flyleaf (big audio issues or it would have been better)
    • Evanescence
    Terrible:
    • 69 Eyes (wow, so bad)
    • Papa Roach <---music was good, but the lead singer was such a massive douche that it ruined the music for us
    Hard choice but missed:
    • Mr. Bungle
    • Melvins
    • Skinny Puppy
    • My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult (overlapped Ministry, was a ****ing crime to do that)
    • Body Count - we were running on 3 hours sleep and left early to miss the crowds
    • Cradle of Filth
Overall vibe of the show was very friendly, bands would stop and ask people to back up to avoid crushes, and even toss waters out to people. Nobody looking for fights and the crowd testosterone level was low compared to when these guys played in their heyday. Unfortunately that meant no pits that I could see, but it was still super fun. Some drop dead gorgeous women and some women who should have worn more clothing.

Festival had some consistent sound and power issues. Ministry had to cut 2 of their songs and Uncle Al was cranky about it 'Due to the ineptitude of this festival, we had to cut two songs. Sorry.'

Amazing show. Not sure that I would do it again at the price I paid, we walked 10 miles in the desert sun going back and forth and just wandering around. It would have to be some dream lineup like all of the early Lollapaloozas rolled into one.

Also, doing Vegas sober is interesting.

So didn't even bother with Korn or System of a Down? Past bedtime?

But seriously, I'm not a huge fan of Korn...but if I am already a paying customer to the festival and it's a short couple minute walk to the stage, I am not missing Blind. :)

    lol

What I mean is that I like some of their music but I don't like some of their music, and I don't like it enough to spend money on it. So yes, it was a choice between seeing them or leaving early at around 9 and avoiding the massive hours-long wait for a rideshare. Easy choice for us since we had walked 10+ miles for 10+ hours in the blazing sun on 3 hours of sleep.

Not a big Korn fan, but I LOVE their drummer.

I DEFINITELY wouldn't have missed System of a Down. I really hope they tour again and come to Houston (or anywhere in Texas).

System had a weird that wasn't my jam. I can't deny the talent.

Something I've noticed from the last two outdoor festivals I've gone to- almost no one smokes at these things, even though they're allowed. If anything, it's vaping but that's fairly low too. Back in the day it was everywhere.

I haven’t been to any big shows this year but am heading down to Council Bluffs, IA to catch Willie Nelson and Family today!

Will also see him again with Robert Plant, Allison Krause and Trampled by Turtles in june 23.

Bright Eyes made up for that **** performance. All business last night. Figured Conor is SOBER except he said H-Tine reminds him of NY so I know he's still high af on something.

Wow on the shows missed. That lineup alone is fantastic.

I would have had little to no interest in the “terrible” bands and “decent” sets/bands either.

Would have like to have experienced it as a while though. Thanks for sharing.

Smashing Pumpkins July (Las Vegas) and Liz Phair December (Dallas). Might be lame for some, but we're getting up there in age. I want to see them again before they or me no longer exist.

If Korn played only their first album I would pay good money. If not someone would have to pay me to go.

Yeah. Terrible. Just so bad. This guy thinks he’s a cross between Jim Morrison and the lead singer of Type O Negative.

Saw Willie Nelson Friday night in Council Bluffs, Ia. At an outdoor show. Beautiful night with almost perfect weather and Willie at 90 can still play as good as ever. He’s mellowed a lot from the outlaw country days but his sound is smoother. He had Lukas Nelson with him and the middle of the show he let Lukas take the lead on vocals but he took the lead on guitar and played phenomenally.
