We should swing for Jonathan Simmons/Fournier or Winslow/J. Johnson. Olynyk would be an incredible pickup as well.

Just a theory of trying to get under the tax.

From what I've noticed, hield has been losing minutes even though he is playing decent.

It may take 2 1sts I was just spitballing like the OP

    Nah, just post-Butler blues.

Ainge can't keep that party together, but he doesn't need to make a move just yet.

Anybody that wants Olynyk should be rooting for Melo to stay. He's a worse defender than Melo and does not have nearly Melo's offensive skills and he's getting paid on a long-term deal.

We don't have the assets to make a deal for Aaron Gordon and I don't think he fits in MDA offense

Not that he is an obvious fit, but if there was a cheap way to grab Vucevic, might be worth looking into. He can rebound, he can shoot threes, and he is a capable passer.

He just doesn't really defend amazingly.

No clue what the Rockets could give up to get him, though.

    This thread states that

Stop keeping money in the mattress and watch it lose value in a place because of no enough quality players .

Nick Young... He has championship experience. He wants to be here. He can score(Catch and shoot) and play defense. Also, we can just pick him up right now.

    Vucevic stats
    this season: 18, 11
    career: 15, 10

One of the best passer at his position.

Very underrated offensive player. But not a quality defender at all. And much more of a pick and pop threat than a pick-n-roll threat, although he does run pick-and-roll some. Could possibly work against Draymond in the same role I envision Melo in. I'm saying possibly. I've always like Vucevic from when he came out of Cal. Felt like he would be a good pro. His rebounding mitigates some of his defensive issues. But not all.

3 needs for me are a starting 3, backup big and backup point. Winslow seems like a great fit. Vucevic as a backup woul really add teeth to the role as a scorer. Not expecting much. Really just hoping Bev and Ariza find their. Way home after buyouts.

Bev, trev and Trez for Melo and picks. Getrdone mohrie

    Copied from another thread:

Been trying to look at realistic trade options we could pursue and it's slim pickins out there.

    One I came up with

Dudley is an experienced 3 and D guy as is Lee. Knicks want cap space to chase a star. Nets get someone to replace Allen Crabbe...yuck. They probably get a pick from us or NY or both, nothing crazy, a second or two.

    Our lineup:
    Cp3/ Lee
    Harden/ Gordon
    Dudley/ Ennis
    Tucker/ Clark
    Capela/ Harenstein

Nothing huge but it should help balance us out.

There are two names that fit the bill. One of them is risky due to injury concerns which may make him easier to get.

After racking my brain for a Ariza/Luc replacement, and now a Ryno replacement since Melo is gone, it comes down to Aminu and/or Harkless.

Aminu is 6’9 with a 7’3 to 7’4 wingspan. Plus defender. He shoots the 3 close to 36% and gets about 8 rebounds a game. He’s just turned 28 and is on the last year of his contract and is making just under 7 mil this year. He would be the ideal addition to our team under the current circumstances.

Harkless is 6’8 with a 7’2 wingspan. Plus defender. He shot 42.5% from 3 in 59 games last season, and is at 37.5% in just 5 games this year. He is only 25 and is scheduled to make roughly 10 mil this year and 11 mil next year which is the final year of his contract.

The risk with a Harkless is his recent injury history. Which I think may be the reason why Portland could be enticed to deal him.

Portland was rumored to be interested in Melo summer before last. Both Dame and CJ openly lobbied for him. Zack Collins has played well this year and so has Evan Turner. Melo could be a good fit off the bench.

The Rockets have to do something and a gamble may be needed. If it is at all possible to get both of them if we offered a similar package to the one we reported offered for Butler. Maybe with 1 - 2 picks instead. I’d even entertain putting EG in the deal and just hope Knight gets healthy.

Aminu and Harkless fit the profile of what we need. Not flashy but effective ala Ariza/Luc. Younger and even more upside in our system.

I don’t know what Morey is doing or thinking but I hope he would at least consider these two as serious options moving forward.

Wes Matthews is not great anymore, but I think could play his role extremely well here
