I hadn't seen it. I've driven the Accord (OMG!), and the looks are probably the biggest thing against it. Not that it looks bad, just that it isn't edgy, as you put it (and I know what you mean). Is the Camry a V6? It looks sweet!
The gas mileage on my 04 Toureag is just horrible. Around 14 in the city and 16-18 on the highway, yikes! For around 27-28K, I would go with an used Acura TL. Much Sportier than ES. Hell you can get a new well equip TL for 32K before TTL now.
Get a mini cooper S. They are so fun to drive. You won't miss the other 2 doors. Great gas mileage. Good warrenty. Again, really really fun to drive. I traded in a volvo station wagon for this and it still works great for my family with 2 young daughters. Mine looks a little like this, except with racing stripes :
I saw a 2007 camry on the road yesterday. I was like That thing is gorgeous. That said, go get yourself an Altima 3.5. You won't regret it, believe me. And if you really want "IT", you can splash on an SE-R or get yourself a used Infiiniti G35. The only thing I have against the G35 is its size...but other than that, that is just an awesome car.
I second the vote for a MINI Cooper. I traded in my BMW 530 touring wagon for my first MINI in 2003 and I traded in a Dodge Magnum RT (with the HEMI) for my second. I love my MINI.
camry = balding, p***y whipped man. Accord = a man with a big part in his hair, who does what his wife says
It takes much bigger balls to buy a car that your buds may make fun of you for, but is cheaper, just as if not more reliable, safer, better gas mileage, still very decent speed, but just isn't a BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, muscle car, etc... I know...because I bought the Lexus. Seriously, though, is there something wrong with me...the new Camry hybrid is attractively priced, very fast, luxurious on the inside with leather upgrade, etc., etc....yet, still I fidn myself saying..."well, it's nice, but not a real man's car". Why, marketing team, have you done this to me....why!!!
I don't think I want a hybrid at this point for an extra $5,000 even with tax breaks and supposed savings that may be re-couped years down the road after buying gas. Plus, I don't even want to think about when the thing malfunctions and the costs associated with fixing this newer technology. As far as stereotyping people who buy a certain brand of car, that's not high on my list of things to watch out for when buying a car. Sorry. lol. I don't drive around thinking..."look at that dude...he's driving a Camry...he must be this-and-this". I guess there must be a majority of you that are doing this based on the feedback here. I guess I'm not hip enough to do that. I'm more concerned with the power, quality, and reliability of the car and whether it suits my needs. You guys have thrown a lot out there. I guess it's not helping my decision-making much. lol Surf
I would buy the new avalon. I like the way it looks and its bigger on the inside than most midsized SUV's.
i would look really really hard at a acura tsx. it has won 10 best awards every year since it came out. and i think they upped the HP by 10 this year. acura and lexus are always up there at the top 1 or 2 postions on long term realiability. all the tsx is though is a european honda accord. really though fit and finish on the inside of that car for the price range is the best you can get out there right now.
No to harp on it any more, but it looks like the price difference is really coming down, though there is still a difference. http://www.toyota.com/camry/index.html?s_van=GM_TN_CAMRY_INDEX On the front, at least, it shows the hybrid as being only $1,500 more than the previous higher model. Plus, I may be wrong, but I think I've read multiple places that they ahve been just as reliable as a regular vehicle. Granted, the track record isn't as long, but I fail to see why it should be any worse. I mean, its not like people say, no, let me keep my 95 computer, I'm concerned that the new one might not be quite as good.
I'd go with either an Acura TL, Nissan Altima, or Nissan Maxima. The Altima would be the cheaper of the three. Trust me if you're going to get a sedan, you want to get the V6. I've had an Altima and TL and loved them both. I actually think the Altima drives a little better, but the interior isn't as nice as the TL.
