I agree DaDakota, He didn't come off as being too high on Houston. Maybe if he makes a trip down here to check things out he'll change his mind. ------------------
That's exactly the point, IMHO -- teams can't talk to Webber, but Sacto can talk to other teams about possible trades. My very subjective interpretation is, he told Petrie that the Kings have until July 1 to figure out what they'll accept in a sign-and-trade. If they let him become a free agent with no deal lined up, he'll go to a team with cap room & leave Sacramento high and dry. A bluff? Maybe. But I'll bet what Webber's trying to do is prevent Sacramento from "running out the clock" by stalling any consideration of trades until the various suitors start dropping out to pursue other players. Hence the "have a deal by July 1" ultimatum. Hence, Webber thinks he'll have an idea of where he's going by the draft. ------------------
Nice interpretation Swopa. I'll read that to suggest that it's either Houston or a sign & trade. Since Houston is the only desirable team w/ cap space, it's not plausible that other teams would get annoyed by having to wait... Orlando I guess does have to choose between Davis or Webber, but I'll ignore that for the point of my post. ------------------ You're a fine woman, why don't you mock that draft up
Don't look too much into his mannerisms. Washington is out. He expressed reservations about the team's future makeup, i.e., yeah, a year or two with Jordan, but then five years of wilderness. Sacramento? Out. Detroit? Yeah right. Webber just doesn't want to drop any clues. ------------------
I don't think Webber is interested in playing for Houston, but is looking for a sign and trade so he could end up in New York or Orlando.I'm sure that he won't go back to the Wizards. ------------------
Just to chime in with an opinion, I also interpreted his mannerisms to be very neutral towards Houston. Definitely nothing positive. I was excited when I heard the direct question about Houston, but disappointed when I heard his answer and saw his expressions. Rudy and CD will have to change that man's mind. ------------------ "You couldn't have stuck a pin up his @#! with a jackhammer. I am glad that we could possibly fit into his list of teams that have a chance to win championships for years to come. Players say this all the time about not caring about the money, but I did feel like webber wouldn't mind playing for what we could offer him instead of signing for the max and then doing a sign and trade. ------------------ "You couldn't have stuck a pin up his @#! with a jackhammer. I think it was a typo (or Freudian slip?), and he meant to say that Moochie will give C-Webb hair. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Swopa (edited May 29, 2001).]
After watching the interview for the second time. I don't think he is that intersted in Houston. I see him going to Orlando or Indiana before going to Houston. I just think we need to just keep Mo. ------------------ RAWW Paid for by the Frudy T. Gin and Juice Daquari Factory.

If a little head from Moochie is all it takes to get Webber to Houston, I say Moochie better get down on his knees and take one for the team. ------------------ "Oh No..." -Bill Walton in 97 just before Stockton's buzzer beater
Indeed. He didn't even mention Houston. In fact, the conversation about Houston lasted about 10 seconds I will try to be optimistic about the situation, but there's not much to show optimism on. ------------------ "Minute after minute, hour after hour, the proud and strong knight struggled in vain against the wasp inside his armour."
I think you have Mooch confused with David Robinson. ------------------ "If you don't understand it, don't try to understand it." -Carl Everett
I said it once, I'll say it again. Webber's comments about Houston might mean nothing. Or everything. If he really wants to play here, he won't say so. Don't get discouraged. ------------------
roxt made a good point if he said he wanted to come to houston he would not be comming hear even though he did not say much about houston he did have a little smile on his face and he did not have one on all the other teams the guy said plus mabe houston is the sleeper and he does not want to talk about it because he wants it to be a suprise ------------------
