It was just unnecessary. Anyone that follows the NBA knows that majority of the players in the NBA are black.

But since this is what you posted, I would suggest Kenyon Martin and Jamison to be in the "some other black player" category....not as some of the main players on your list.

No need to include race when talking about players. You talk about guys by their skills and athleticism, not race.

A plausible scenario would be either for James or Wade...Kobe isn't going anywhere.

Hypothetically speaking, if Wade and/or James does decide to leave...you could give up Yao and some change to get a superstar without giving up the great supporting cast we already have.

We would still have lots of assets and possibly our draft picks to make other trades to upgrade....and/or find another big

    Antawn Jamison.
I love the author put Antawn Jamison as an option. It is the most doable deal. Antawn Jamison is a great player who helped LBJ get into 2nd round.
Lets do it. LBJ and Yao all the way!
    LOL.

No one actually thinks you are racist, but you make a ton of statements about "Black" athletes.

    Why?

What exactly do you think you are accomplishing?

    It seems very inappropriate.....

Agreed, but isn't that up to the offended people to decide?

As for me, it reads offensive, and he does it a lot, maybe we are missing the humor...

Because it is not really funny, not sure why it is even said....

(being hispanic)..i think this is ridiculous... if the poll said:

    Brad Miller
    Steve Nash
    Birdman
    Chris Kaman
    Matt Bullard
    Or some other white guy?...

    who would be genuinely offended??

It wasn't even a funny joke by the poster..
but to act like it has corrupted your sacred virgin eyes is just preposterous!

What's wrong with saying "black player"? Do black people call us caucasians every time they refer to us? No, because that would be stupid. Just like it would be stupid to call a black person an african american every time we refer to them. Sure, in more formal contexts it's appropriate, but this is colloquial speech we're talking about here.

I don't know I mean people have the right to be offended it just seems like a futile concept to me, no point in letting people offend you because the world is full of people that will offend you and it'll never change, so instead of being offended and filled with a stressful negative emotion better to me to just shrug it off whether said in a negative or humorous context...i get pulled over at least 25 times a year and have my car dismantled by racist cops who attempt to belittle me and talk to me like a second class citizen, i just shrug it off cz if i let it bother me i'd be bald by now lol

It's also up to the people who are not offended and think it's ridiculous to make such a big deal about saying "black player" to step in and explain why they believe it shouldn't be interpreted as offensive.

"black player" doesn't offend me per se, i'm proud to be "black" so thats cool.

in the context of the poll: the race reference, seems like we're trading for a more acceptable ethnicity ... which i hope wasn't the OP's intent.
