What can Americans create that the rest of the world buys?

I think there's just a gap in understanding. The transition to service-based, knowledge economy will take a long time to complete, and those jobs dissapearing is more visible than new jobs appearing.

The only problem with this change is that there is an actual limit to the amount of doctors, engineers, scientists, etc that a country needs. I think we've reached that stage, which is why American-educated folks are taking their services elsewhere.

Ultimately, the thing that keeps a knowledge-economy running is education. From what I've read around here, the quality of education appears to be deteriorating? Now that's a very dangerous thing.
