Catch 22 is just about the hardest book to get into, but it's worth it. I promise you you will want to give up on it at least 5 times before you're done.

Longest book to finish: Norman Mailer's "Executioner's Song" Don't know why, but this son of a b**** to 3 YEARS to finish. Decent, not fantastic.

Favorite Book: "Jurassic Park" by Michael Crichton. Book is IMMENSELY beeter than the movie, a must read, IMO (this book took less than a week to finish)

Best native Houstonian Book: "Loser takes all" by Ed Fowler. A GREAT book for EX-Oiler fans.

Most disappointing book: "A Rocket at Heart" bhy Rudy T. Decent Read, but I wasn't that impressed.

    That's my take. I'm out!:p

Fantasy and Sci Fi for the most part....between reading technical magazines and networking textbooks..and Linux How-Tos..

Just finished Terry Brook's "Voyage of the Jerle Shannara" trilogy.
Ilse Witch, Antrax, and Morgawr. Excellent continuation of the Shannara series..
in that vein, the rest of the Shannara series is fantasy writing at it's very best.

In an lighter mood, you can't go wrong with a little Terry Pratchett.

Discworld books..take your pick..they are all funny stuff.

    DuncanIdaho,
just a little curious..Why not include the House books in your Herbert listing? I am 2/3rds of the way thru them, and I think his son did an admirable job of providing insite into the activities that occur in the Dune series.

The son doesn't have what the father did.

Hopefully Dune 7 won't be a total sham.

I read a whole lot, but my favorites happen to be some of the most popular/classic rock bits.

My favorite, easily is John Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath,' and Steinbeck it my favorite author.

J Kerouac's "On the Road" is next, and anyone over the age of 15 who hasn't read this needs to be slapped around a bit.

Jay McInerney's "Bright Lights, Big City," is third; I relate to it quite a bit, more than I care to admit ... that's my trio.

I really can't stand Sci-fi, in any medium, although I did like "Mona Lisa Overdrive" by Billy Gibson. I haven't been able to get into his other stuff, tho ...

Yes, except for the Grail Quest series, of which Harlequin is the first. I was thrown off because it's published as "The Archer's Tale" in the States. Stonehenge was great. And I'm glad he went back to Sharpe's early career to fill in the blanks and keep it fresh. He should write more nautical fiction of the era... his "Sharpe's Trafalgar" was excellent. I'm looking forward to reading "Sharpe's Prey" as well. Sorry it took so long to respond. Life is a bit crazy around here. :)
