nick hornby - how to be good. before that anne tyler - accidental tourist. and a few books before that, the funniest book i've ever read tim sandlin - skipped parts.
It's really my fault. I'll read a chapter one night, and then I'll go a couple weeks without picking it up again. It's not that it's a bad book or anything, that's just the way my reading habits are. I'll go on a voracious reading trip, and then I won't read much for a long time.
Rereading the Dark Tower series by Stephen King for the nth time, to prepare for the fifth book's release in November.
"Berlin - The Downfall 1945" by Antony Beever. Its truly horrifying. Makes the things I worry about laughable.
I've been reading Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson forever (its a big ol' book 1000+ pages) but its become something of an old friend that I really don't want to finish. Its an excellent read, I highly recommended it. Everyone post a bit of a review on what you're reading, i'm always looking for a good book to pick-up. These have caught my interest: Its not about the Bike - Lance Armstrong The Da Vinci Code Snow Crash is very high my "to read" list if its better than Crypto it must be great.
I fixing to start reading the Scarlet Letter, but that's because of school (had the Grapes of Wrath this past 6 weeks). I know, its not the same... Oh yeah, I did check out Strong Bad's children book, Everyone is Different. (I think that's the name.) Pretty good read.
Pardon my ignorance, but what rumors are you talking about? I know that Brian Herbert is writing Dune: The Machine Crusade and Dune: The Battle of Corrin (Harkonnen betrayal of Atreides!). What other rumors are there?
Yeah I read that book about a year ago. It was a short book, and a good read for only having one character in it with basically no dialouge for nearly the entire book. I heard they are making a movie soon based off the book.
Frankenstien b/c of school. So far pretty boring book I heard it pickups towards the end, I guess Ill find out soon.
The Man in The High Castle - Phillip k. Dick Walker's Mammals of the World Volume1 & Volume 2 - Some dude named Walker An Historical Geography of Western Europe before 1800 - C.T. Smith Distraction - Bruce Sterling Zodiac - Neil Stephenson Regarding Cryptonomicon, the psudo-prequil, Quicksilver : Volume One of The Baroque Cycle is due to be released on 9/23. From harpercollins.com:
Herbert and Anderson are teaming up to write a 7th Dune book that takes place after Chapterhouse: Dune. The book is going to be written from notes by Frank Herbert for a 7th book found in a safe deposit box. The book is also supposed to wrap up the series and tie up all the loose ends. Herbert and Anderson were basically tuning up their writing skills for Dune 7 by writing all of these prequels. I believe they will start work after the last prequel book is finished. Can I get a hell yeah?
Sure, hell yeah! The prequels weren't bad. I enjoyed them. Not in the same league as Frank, of course, but a lot of great background you always wondered about.
Yeah, I think it does. We had to read it last year. It was pretty boring, but IIRC it did pick up towards the end.
