I LOVE Wiltjer!! We have so many streaky 3pt shooters that we need another player to come in off the bench when guys are in a slump. Who knows how many more 3's he could have gotten if he was passes the ball. I've seen him move around and get wide open so many times, raising his hand to get the guards attention and just get ignored. Maybe part of that was the other guys trying to make the team just wanted to drive to the goal and score. He could be a huge asset when we need someone to give us that extra outside threat!!!!!

DM jumping to secure Payton Jr. thinking he is the next Nick Johnson, made it difficult when it shouldn't be

Kyle Wiltjer really impressed me with his IQ. His long range jumper is incredible. With that type of shooting skills, he will always have a role in the NBA. Even though he lacks the strength to box out for rebounds, he uses his body incredibly well to get into position, similar to players like Kevin Love. He is often in position to get the rebound.

I think with D'Antoni, he will utilized Kyle effectively. A player who is 6'10 with incredible high percentage deep ball range is perfect for D'Antoni's system and a player like Harden. With Ryan Anderson on the team also, the Rockets have two 4s that can light it up from the 3 point line. I don't see Kyle Wiltjer playing tons of minutes during his first year unless there's injuries. But I do see his role where when the Rockets need a couple of quick 3 pointers, Kyle fits that role. Also in certain situation where the Rockets need a 3 to win, Kyle would probably be in the lineup.

I am just excited that this year, the Rockets finally have some legit long range shooters who can shoot at a high percentage from deep. The last few years, the Rockets takes a ton of 3s but they don't have consistent 3 point shooters. I cringe when I see Josh Smith chucking 3s like he's a 3 point specialist. Now with a new system where the floor is more spaced out and Harden playing the Nash role, guys like Ryan Anderson, Eric Gordon, Ariza, Dekker and Wiltjer will see plenty of open 3s.

Don't get me wrong, in no way would I choose Prigs over Wiltjer. If it came down to picking between the two I would definitely choose Kyle. But there are other players I would cut in order to keep Prigs especially since Bev will be out.

Kyle was our best 3pt shooter of the preseason, and it we need someone like him on our team. Nobody other than Anderson even hit 29% of their shots from behind the arc. Anderson and Wiltjer are the only guys we have who made over 40% of their 3's, and that is a huge difference maker in clutch games. If Wiltjer was playing with Harden he would be making even more shots. Yes, he was off last night, but his overall percentage is high. This is a kid who made 70 of 75 3pt shots in 5 minutes back in 2014 during a practice. We have guys who can't even make 50% of their free throws! Check out this video.

So, because Dekker isn't the 4 you're looking for, we should move him to the 3, where a 3 pt shot is even more important?

These are the people who are saying Dekker shouldn't be a 4.

That is my fear, too, but I hope DM won't be so short-sighted.

My thought is that we need all the dead eye shooters from distance that we can fit on the roster. The kid has the size to shoot over the top of most defenders, and as long as he isn't a complete bust at every other aspect of the game and doesn't lose his shot when the games count, keep him and see if he can contribute this season.

Brown, Dekker, Brewer and Ennis can all be sent packing without cause for worry. Get to work Daryl. We need some more talent on the end of this bench.

Grab Kevin Martin and Nate Robinson...

Ariza, Brewer, Smith standing on the 3 pt line <<<<<< Dekker, Wiltjer, Anderson standing on the 3 pt line

I mean it's like what…probably a 20 pt difference most nights? Don't give me some defense line Ariza, Brewer and Smith didn't exactly shut the world down

HA...yeah that's a good point. didn't think that through. but I still believe that in the long run Wilted > Dekker.
I'm not saying Dekker is garbage. I actually was impressed with his game. but I just see more potential in Wiltjer

Dekker and Wiltjer aren't exactly overlapping skillsets.

I get that they're both white guys, but they're not competing for the same roles.
