1. Worry-free new car warranty 2. Know exactly how the car is treated 3. Optioned exactly the way you want; try getting the right color/model/trim on a used car that's within a reasonable distance. I'm in no financial position to buy sport/luxury car new off the lot, but at least I can see the reason why people do things. Just because other people have a different perspective doesn't make their choices "stupid." If money isn't an issue, why not get cars brand new?
A5's are rare (since I think they started selling them in US only a couple of years ago, but the performance is terrible for the money you're shelling out. If you want cheap maintenance and reliability, G37 is a great sports coupe. If you want a car with great interior, get an Audi S4. For handling, you can't go wrong with the 3 series (335/M3). There are no "bad" choices out of any of those cars. I recently purchased a used Z4 vert, and I've already have: broken cup holder, brake noise, and tire pressure warning briefly, all in the 1~month I've owned it  still under the 4 year warranty, but I'm financially (and emotionally) prepared for any unexpected repairs that'll come up down the road.
The "refresh" of the TL's face, a.k.a. the 2012 model will be revealed tomorrow. The next major re-design probably won't happen until 2012-2013.
No. It's just an MMC, not a full re-design. The Transformers shield of a grille will be made less pronounced. Also rumors of possibly a minor hp bump and a 6sp AT. Also an "Advance Package" may make an appearance that will add a few thousand to the price. There are spyshots online of the 2012. You can tell the grille may be more TSX-ish. I'm afraid they're going to go from having a cartoon grille to having a boring, Camryesque one.
