Similar here, except that I don't view Yao as anything more than a sports star. If he succeeds, I'm happy. If he fails, it does not mean Chinese are not good at major spectator sports. Because of Yao, I root for the Rox whole-heartedly every game. It's more important for the Rox to win than Yao posting huge numbers, as long as he does not suck too much. That said, if Yao moves to another team. that would be another story.
BTW, I chose YOF, but in many Chinese fans' eyes, I'm a Yao-hater because I'm never in denial of Yao's weaknesses and problems.
Loved the team when the sucked, loved them when they won the championships, love them now...doesn't matter whos on the team. Got to support them. Never jumped off or on the bandwagon for any reason in any Houston Sports Team
Yi you are a idiot! When the rockets lose it makes Yao look bad too.. Im sure even Yao him self would rather have the team win then have him self pad his stats and lose. Anyways im a Chinese American and I would love to see Yao become a dominant player in the league. He is far from it right now but I still think he has the potential and will be a solid good player. Maybe never a great player like the Duncans, KGs, Tmacs out there but he can be good (22pts 12rebs) Anyways Im here because I was a huge Barkley fan (hence the Suns being my other favorite team. But i followed the Chuckster here to Houston and I have been a big houston fan since the stevie franchise days. I was definatley excited when the rockets drafted Yao. Anyways hope yao get out of his slump soon, but not at the expense of the team winning. GOOO ROCKETS!
I dont see a acronym for a RH = Rockets Homer.. Have been a huge fan since the early 70s...aint about to quit on em now.
