The magic have no leverage. We are the only team willing to accept their foremost requirement, which is contracts. Martin, Patterson, Maybe Jones, Toronto pick, Dallas Pick and Charlotte's pick is plenty. Maybe too much.
Martin, Morris, TOR Pick, DAL Pick... None of the rookies. If they want those, Orlando should have taken our pre-draft offer of 1st rounders and players and chosen whoever they pleased. They passed on that opportunity.
If Howard remains firm with his 'testing FA market' stance. D-Mo + Tor's #1 is more than fair on talent. Martin for JRich is additional financial relief. I'd hold onto Lamb who seems to be cross between Harden and Hamilton.
Jordan and Leuer are already gone. If no DH, then roster may look like this (if no more trades/signings occur): Lin, Douglas, Machado Martin, Lamb, Forbes Parsons, White, Morris Motijunas, Jones, Patterson, Johnson Asik, Harrellson Fortson, Simpson, Smith, Livingston, Brockman, Williams, Moore are likely not in the Rockets long term plans - cap space casualties. Harrellson as well, especially if Howard is brought on board. Not sure how much the Rockets value Forbes and Johnson. Or Zoran Dragic for that matter. Although Dragic seemed to get much more time with the Rockets' young guns than Simpson, Smith or Harrellson. DH or not, Martin, Morris and Patterson smell like trade bait. If that happens, Rockets new assets are more than likely guards and/or another center. Some economical perimeter players still available: Randy Foye, Domic McGuire, Marcelinho Huertas (longshot, but a personal preference) Additional assets: Rights to Furkan Aldemir, Maarty Leunen and Jon Diebler; 2 first rounders, 4 2nd rounders Machado (maybe Dragic) is D-League bound if retained.
Assuming Daryl Morey is as smart as everyone says he is, he will not give up much for an INJURED player who says he will not sign. DM should not give up ANY of our rookies given those two points without seeing Dwight play. Martin plus Morris and Toronto pick with ZERO bad contracts is ALL I would be willing to give up from Morey's point of view without knowing DH is 100% HEALTHY. The only way to know he is 100% healthy is to see him play numerous games given the nature of his injury. I speak from personal experience in saying Dwight may never be the same post back surgery. Most people think the only gamble is him signing long term which they feel we will call his bluff. His injury is a way bigger gamble. The dude just had back surgery for a herniated disc. Even if he has full doc clearance he may never be the same.
If we compare it to that it should be: - Kevin Martin (Gordon) - Patterson (Aminu) - TOR pick - Jones / D-Mo / White
As long as we dont take back more than 1 bad contract with him, I'm pretty much open to trading everyone but dmo and lamb. They can have White, Jones, Martin, Ppat, and ours, raptors, mavs pick. Only pick of value there is raptors, with dwight were not in the lottery so we wouldnt have ours anyways, and dal is top 20 protected so its useless. I just dont want to be financially screwed for free agency the next few years with those terrible magic contracts, he's leaving the magic for a reason, if you take 3 of there bad contracts then were the magic.
Damn right Raven. Morey is not giving our most promising young talent for what turnout to be a rental plus an opportunity to unload their trash. It is just too much, if you think about it.
I will mostly agree with you. If we get D12, would anyone be really surprised if he is rehabbing until the all-star break?
I'm thinking it will be something like... Martin, White or Jones, Toronoto pick, Dallas pick, Patterson and Morris for Howard, Hedo & Duhon If we ended trading Lamb (which I hope we don't), replace Hedo with JRich Not sure about, but can we flip any of the guys we picked up this summer via sign and trade?
Thanks for the insight. I've been all in for Dwight for a while now, not realizing the severity of his injury. If he can't play then I say go ahead and go for Bynum and keep our youth.
