That warmed my heart, giddyup. She sounds really sweet. My 8 year daughter is the same way. Nothing beats getting home and having her run up, hollering, "Daddy!!!"... my 12 year old boy forgets and does it once in a blue moon. Thank goodness he's still affectionate. Don't know how much longer that'll last, but I'm diggin' it while I can. The thing I'm looking forward to the most is taking my kids to Europe for the first time. With any luck at all, we'll be able to do it next summer. (in a year) My wife is going to retire then and we'll have the time and the means to make it last about 3 months. I'll never forget going there (and a lot of other places around the world) when I was about my son's age.
I'm looking forward to.... a SHORT vacation, I guess.... Work ends next friday, and next saturday/sunday I'll leave for NY for about a week... Then it's back to school. YAY.
2 days left for me! then off to 4 yrs at the University of Dayton, btw what Miami Mooch the one in Florida or Ohio?
Florida, although I hear Oxford is nice. I had to go to college in a big city, preferrably New York or even Houston, but neither worked out. And I still love the fact that Miami Beach is nude. Enjoy Dayton!
taking a 3 week trip to europe this summer in june. rome, paris, and london better be tight. might go to vegas after that. i'm graduating from college on friday after losing my 4.0 thanks to senior lab where i got a C (i've still never made a B ). i hate that MFing b**** of a professor. since i'm going to grad school for two years now, though, i can't really say all that much will change on that front so it's not like i'm looking forward to getting out in the real world. actually, i guess i'm looking forward to winning the lottery in the next two years so i don't have to. finally, i'm looking forward to my fantasy team not sucking so horribly. if anyone can explain how my team is hitting under .250 in a ten team league, meaning everyone is at least top 10 at their position, i'd love to hear it. F derek jeter.
My next breath. Seriously, our vacation to Florida this summer. Pensacola Beach, Tampa (going to see Rush at the new Tampa Bay Amphitheater...btw, RM95, Dave Matthews plays there one day before we arrive), 5 days at Walt Disney World, Savannah Georgia, then back home. Also, I'm looking forward to post 10,000. I hope to make it about the vacation.
The two week break in the fire season at the end of July, my daughter turning two in August, and my oldest starting First Grade in the Fall. Oh yeah, November 2 as well.
Having this summer over with... it's going to be long and boring. I stay here and work, but a lot of other people are gone. None of the organized activities are going on, and even the people who are here don't always bother to keep in touch. It's all like a sort of hibernation... everybody hide and do boring stuff for the next three months. Try to make money. Try to improve yourself. The usual stuff. So I'm looking forward to mid-August. It's the college lifestyle... story of my life, and I'm used to it by now. There are a lot of people and things I miss already. C'est la vie. Vacation is next week, with my husband and my mom... could be fun, or could be awkward and stressful. You know how family stuff is. Guess we shall see.
Well I would have had senior exemptions but we have a rule where you can only be absent 5 school days senior year, and i whopped the previous record with 44(wait make that 45 counting today).... so no exemptions for me, dont think ill go the exams anyways. i dont have any idea what im going to be doing past this year tho, college yes, but what im doing there, i have no idea... but i can bet my summer will be one of the best ive ever had... one week in london(or wherever i want to go) one week in dubai/sharjah one month in Saudi -- hoping to visit egypt and maybe Israel for 2 weeks during that time. (but mostly going to spend time with parents) two weeks in india-- there is quite a lot of fun stuff to do there, esp without parents. then one week shopping for college with whatever money I have left in the bank accnt... O yea I just quit Circuit City...YAAAY,,,, stupid new manager, doesnt speak english and makes us flip the dollar bills face up when we close, so i flipped something else and left... feels awesome
other things i am looking forward to another trip OS in the next few years getting my backyard completed in the next couple months someone from this board coming to visit me downunder the burgers i am making for dinner tonight
45 days?!?! Wow, how did you manage to keep up? Same 5 day rule here and this year has been the closest to perfect attendance since elementary school in Houston. (I usually miss about 20-30 days, but enough about hs...it's ****ing over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!) ----- And then I realized the rest of my summer a couple of hours ago as I sat watching reruns of <strike>Fuc</strike> Duckman and Ren & Stimpy. I'll be going fishing for the first time (well I went once when I was four, but that really doesn't count) next Wednesday after I have (hopefully) FINALLY put in the final brake and fuel lines into the '67 Mustang (the mechanic overslept last Sunday apparently) this coming weekend. Then next week would have been more interesting if I had decided to go with my dad to his 35th or so Amherst reunion (which of course I refused to apply to). The idea was that I would've seen Boston for the first time (again, FINALLY!!!), and that would mean Fenway. Guess that will have to wait until next time I'm up north. Again, I really should've planned a trip or something. Oh right, I just remembered... I'll be taking a Geology course at the University here since a.) there's nothing to do here in the summer; I couldn't even find a job and b.) the credits will transfer over to Miami, freeing up space for me to take classes like photography, theatre arts, musicology, even dancing if I so chose, and inevitably beer and wine tasting. But that course doesn't begin until June and goes through July, in which I will miss two days for a trip to Houston (I think the 17th or so; whenever the Angels or Cubs are in town). That will probabaly be the 'highlight'; now let's just see me try to get back into contact with people I haven't talked to in about 4 years (ahahhahaha). Looks like hanging 'round suburbia (ie: Galleria) the entire time. Hmm, the All-Star game is in town just a couple weeks later....I think it's eBay time....
Congrats to RM95 and condolences to rockHEAD. You guys mirror my brothers. One's getting married, one divorced. What I'm looking forward to in the immediate future is getting out of ABQ (it's pretty and friendly here, but damned boring), seeing Infernal Bridegroom's Hotel Play (featuring a cast of 70), seeing JW Americana (best band in Houston), seeing Greg Wood (best singer-songwriter in Houston), going to my brother's wedding (he and his very cool fiancee are made for each other) and getting out to Pittsburgh to direct one of my favorite plays (When the World Was Green). Already started a thread on the JW gig, but some of you guys should come out. It's a guaranteed good time.
I didn't get a vacation the year before last, but we went to BC last year and three years ago. We might spend three or four days elsewhere, but if we can string a week or more together, we go to BC. This time, we're really gonna get to know Vancouver--and Salt Spring Island. We won't be driving as much as we did on the last two trips.
Fixing up the weekend home we just bought! LOTS TO DO!!!! Built in 1950 and really no updates to speak of since then. Got to put on new siding, new hardwood floors, new walls (to get rid of the faux wood panaling), update the kitchen and baths, repoint the fireplace. And I don't even want to get to what needs to be done with the 2 acres of land! But it's all good! It's such a welcome change from the city to be at 2600 feet elevation, looking out over the valley off the side of a mountian, with a trout stream running through your back yard!
The hell!!! We have to have no more than 3 absents in order to get exempted, and I had 4. So sad that I will be the only one taking the exam in my computer science 2 class. As for what I'm looking forward to, the vacation to China this summer, and the vacation to Canada during the Christmas, and ya, of course, graduate from high school.
