This is the problem with pro ball. 1) It's hard to bench players that do not perform since you will need them again. 2) Player can start cold and warm up later. 3) If a player takes a bad shot and makes it, does it make it a good shot? 4) A bad shot to some is a good shot to others. I think the solution is not perfect but you do need some guidelines rather than none. I would have 2 rules and they apply at both ends of the floor. I would bench player because 1) He repeatly tries something that has low percentage of "him" succeeding. i.e. Takes shots he normally does not make in practice. Makes fancy passes that he rarely completes. Goes for steal that fails more often than not. Fouls a jump shooter when he has no chance to block shot ... 2) He repeatly fails to help put his teammate in a good position to succeed. i.e. Fails to pass to open teammate. Fails to help team mate on defense ...
Juaquin can't argue with that. John Wooden was a PG and College Player of the Year, and All-American thrice Dean Smith was a PG for NCAA Champion Kansas Larry Brown was Dean Smith's PG and won an Olympic gold medal Coach K was Bobby Knight's PG
Whats so famous about Van Gundy. He's had a couple of good season in NY, but he quit his team. Why couldn't he just finish the season and then quit at the end of the season? What if the Warriors,Pistons,Magic,Nuggetts, or some of those teams wited on this famous coach? Where would Detroit be without Carisle?
Hey Sherlock, I like most of your post. Just one comment: Supposedly, Sterling is willing to max out only one player on the Clips, and that's Brand. That probably means this won't happen, right? (Unless Doc Rocket's said something that I missed )
Rocket104 ... yes, from what I understand about his contract and Sterling, I think the window of opportunity is over for Brand ... we almost had him, dangit! He'll either get signed by LAC or sign a one year deal like Kandi and become an unrestricted FA next year.
