Right now, Champagne Supernova - Oasis on the Buzz at work damn havent heard that song in like forever.... anybody going to their show with Jet in Sep? always wanted to see Oasis live
Rumor is that they will be at the ACL festival this year. I'm not a fan at all. I'll surely be at another stage during their time slot. I'm currently listening the most to... The Gourds...All the Labour Black Crowes...Amorica Old 97's...Drag It Up
i heard a rumor that black crows, dave matthews band, coldplay and widespread panic will be at acl and lollapalooza as well. (same guy booking both) i just read lords of chaos - about the early 90's norweigan black metal scene. band members would go around burning down churches, desecrating graves and killing each other just to prove who was the most evil. crazy story. in light of that ive been listening to alot of satanic black metal bands like mayhem, abruptum (sounds like hell as a mental institution), darkthrone and burzum (my personal favorite and the most evil of all!) to balance out the evil ive been jamming joni mitchell - blue nick drake - 5 leaves left john fahey - the transfiguration of blind joe death beck - guero m83 - just discovered this band. sound like a cross b/t air and my bloody valentine. cafe tacuba - cuatro caminos bill hicks - arizona bay caetano veloso - best of
ill indulge you guys further in lords of chaos, cause the story is really bizzare. this all happened in norway in the early 90's. if you remember the thread a few months back with all the metal bands and the rediculous face paint, that was these guys. but they call it "corpse paint" cause calling it make-up seems kind of gay. anyway, that thread was what got me interested in reading the book about the scene, so thanks! venom was the first norwegian black metal band, but they were more for the theatrical aspect of it (like a more evil kiss). venom influenced all these kids who took the satanic aspect too seriously. hence, mayhem came about. mayhem's singer was named "dead". "dead" blew his brains out with a shotgun and mayhem's guitarist "euronymous" was the first to find him. rather than call the paramedics, "euronymous" buys a camera from the drug store down the street and takes pictures of "dead's" corpse. one of these photos ends up being mayhems next album cover. after that, "euronymous" takes pieces of "dead's" skull, which he gives to all of their friends to wear as necklaces. next, he boils pieces of "deads" brain in a pot and eats it so that he can call himself a cannibal. EVIL! after that, things start to get out of control. band members start burning down old christian churches, some of which are 1000 years old. desecrate christian graves. randomly murder people on the street. all to prove who was the most evil. a battle for control over the black metal scene breaks out b/t "euronymous" and varg vikrens, a.k.a. "count grishnackt", leader of one man band burzum. i suppose you could say they were the satanic version of tupac and biggie. varg ends up killing "euronymous" by stabbing him thru the skull. varg is in prison, but has a shot at parole in 2007. lots of other members of the scene are either dead or in prison for all the church burnings and murders.
My friend, I am more than happy to help. For the entire shows, I go to a torrent site called www.easytree.org. They have all kinds of live concert recordings there. I'm not sure, but I think there might be a membership limit there. If that's the case and you can't join, or you just don't do downloading via torrents, you can find individual songs on this huge U2 fansite called http://interference.com/. In their forums, there's a section dedicated to the tour. In that tour section there is an audio/video section for bootlegs and video recordings. Some members have access to a member only torrent site and are nice enough to upload the songs individually via yousendit.com. To post at the site, you have to pay a membership/contribution fee, but you can register for free and view the boards. Actually, you don't have to register to view them, but if you don't, this annoying reminder about registering keeps popping up. You definately have to register to view the bootleg section though. Oh, and the songs from easytree come as flac files. I don't remember much about that, I just know that somebody told me exactly what to download once and now I can play them with winamp. If you want them as mp3s, you have to go to interference, where people are nice enough to convert them. As for the quality, they are pretty good, but the venue will obviously have an effect. The San Diego arena has crappy acoustics, but the recording is still good and the crowd noise is lowered. Anaheim sounds excellent. I DL'd the entire first show, and then the different songs they played from the 2nd show. For the Anaheim show, they turned the setlist on it's ear and brought back Mysterious Ways. When I heard how good Mysterious Ways sounded, I decided to download the entire show. Good luck and let me know if you need any more help.

When I DL'd that U2 concert, the song Wake Up was on there, they play it on the PA before the show starts along with some other stuff. Anyways, I've listened to some of the clips on itunes and the bands that come to mind when I hear them are Talking Heads, David Bowie, the Cure, and Joy Division.
