Just got the new Ryan Adams -- Cold Roses. Kind of a return to Whiskeytown, and a re-emergence of the doldrums that were Rock N Roll and Love is Hell. It's a great new album. Also can't stop listening to Green Day's American Idiot. Yeah, I know. About to put U2 on heavy rotation for the rest of the week to get ready for the show on Saturday!
Good to hear Ryan Adams is making a return to his Whiksytown days. Strangers Alminac is by far my favorite work of his, though all his solo albums have had at least one song that I really loved. I think he really benefited by having Whiskytowns Cary Caitlin on harmony, but most of all it's as if he just rushed each solo album out without any culling of the mediocre songs.
Listening to some chill out grooves by Team Sleep. They come to town next week on the 17th, just got my tickets today.
Hey Win, I want to personally thank you again for turning me onto Roxy Music as well as the "Forever Changes" album by Love. Certain people grumble about our music threads and tourneys, but that is why I feel they are so important - they help me and others discover new (and old) stuff that's out there.
Funny you mention that -- he's got TWO MORE albums coming out this year. And the one I just picked up's a double -- so that's 4 sides worth. Ever hear of B-sides, Ryan? Nobody's enough of a genius to merit releasing that much stuff in a year ...
No I problema, Manny..... That's what I love about the music threads here - the opportunity to exchange opinions on musicians and lp's. I too have gotten some great suggestions from certain surprisingly well informed members. I particularly like Deckards remembrances of the concerts he went to in the late 60's ealy 70's. In other instances it is the mention of something like 'Singles Going Steady' by the Buzzcocks ( thanks, dude)or other excelent music I had lond since buried deeply which brings them back to life that I appreciate, As to 'Forever Changes', I did not get that untill a couple years ago (when it was remastered) and have since been looking to find something else by Love that might compare but the reviews are spotty and I have yet to take the leap. Wrath, I passed on Ryans B' sides figuring enough is enough, already. However, I WILL get his newest on your recommendation.
Ditto. I've gotten so many new music recommendations from these threads it's not even funny. But it for some reason annoys the hell out of some people, even though this has been the only one in a month plus. BTW, "You Could Die Trying" from Stand Up.
