I like Queen II . Actually, my favorite Queen lps are the first three and in order of how they were released. I think they had it perfect on their very first release
i just got a free ticket to the sold out mars volta show at the austin music hall on monday - whoo hoo! i got friends in low places. AMH holds about 3,000, so its pretty impressive for them to sell it out. the other half of at the drive in, sparta played at emos, which might hold about 500. LISTENING TO... i just got turned on to all the krunk h-town hip hop. the dj screw crew...slim thug, mike jones (i love this guy - no one namechecks themselves more!). MIKE JONES!!! dude raps out his phone number "281-330-8004 is the number you can hit me on, when you call ask for MIKE JONES"
I was listening to Jon Butler Trio in the car and since I just found out I got a new job, I'm going to pick up O.A.R.'s new one!
Also got Jack Johnson's new one. DAMN YOU OVERHEAD SPEAKER PLAYING HIS NEW SONG WHILE I WAS IN THE CHECKOUT LINE!!! (Shakes fist at ceiling)
Let me know what you think about it. I think it is better than the 2nd one but not as good as the first.
Tuff Darts - Tuff Darts! Exploding Hearts - Guitar Romatic Replacements - Pleased to meet me You guys need to get this exploding hearts album. Best powerpop album to come out in the last 20 yrs! Too bad 3/4th of the band died in a van wreck...
I never have gotten anything by them. Are they (or him) similar to Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, DMB, etc?
There's been two 'Battle of the Bands' contests on this board with a total of 128 bands ... Cheap Trick hasn't been in either one (no one complained). That should tell you what this board thinks of power pop ... EDIT: you think it's better than The Yo-Yo's?
Hanoi Rocks "Self-Destruction Blues" Hanoi Rocks "Back to Mystery City" Alice Cooper "Love it to Death" KISS "Rock and Roll Over" KISS "Ace Frehley" solo Dead Boys "Young, Loud, and Snotty"
Minus the Bear - Mix of their EPs Trivium - Ascendancy Every Time I Die - Hot Damn System of a Down - Toxicity Darkest Hour - Hidden Hands of a Sadist Nation Death From Above 1979 - You're A Woman, I'm A Machine
Okay, cool - I'll need to check it out - thanks. Currently listening to "Dark Side of the Moon" by Slipkn..., er Floyd.
Yeah, not much love for power pop out there - not sure why... I've always liked it myself. Off the top of my head: The Shoes, The Records, The DBs, Big Star, The Rasberries, The Buzzcocks (more pop than punk), Summercamp; et al... I was checking out Exploding Hearts on Amazon (the short song clips) and can't decide which album to get. UT? Freak?
