Not until the next PGA Major or Astros game... But that would be the ideal time... slowest sports period of each year.
"See, Jews have a lot of holidays . . . sometimes I stay home for no reason . . . 'Jon, is it a holiday?' . . . 'Yeah it's Achm Blacm day.' See Yom Kippur, day of atonement. You don't eat or drink for one day and all your sins are forgiven . . . BEAT THAT . . . beat that with your 'Lent' . . . what's that, 40 days? Forty days to one . . . even in sin, you're paying retail." ~ Jon Stewart
that's really funny! i have a jewish client who tells me he's a good christian..and i'd be a better one if i could get past all that stuff about jesus. i jokingly respond by saying, "you're right...that christ stuff really gets in the way of CHRISTianity." sadly, when referring to christianity, i think that statement is often too true.
I wish some posters would give up the bbs. Only kidding. I am giving up alcohol. It will be hard as I am in social drinking situations pretty much daily. Wish me luck.
I'm giving up sex with other men. It was just another case of me taking the easy way out though, seeing as I'm heterosexual and what not.
What am I giving up for Lent? This year - my sanity! HA ha ha ha ha... Other things I have given up include sleep, fun, meat-on-Fridays (and I'm not even Catholic; just doing it to show solidarity with someone who is). And, one year, computer games, which did help things out. (though I decided to move my "Lent" up a week or two so it would end after my qualifying exam) I know I should probably pick something harder to sacrifice, but I'm so busy right now that I'm up to here in stuff. I just hope I get through it alive. I'm trying to give up foolish pride and selfishness, though that's not just a Lent thing.
