    NOTHING

This team has hardly even played together yet and people are already questioning them.

Martin only played 20 games with the team last year, he is essentially a new acquisition. Yao has still not played with Ariza or Bud. He has only even played with Brooks as the starter for half a season. This team has plenty of potential to look forward to.

Don't see anything else happening until the trade deadline. Morey needs to see how this team works. Then again the team is stacked so there may not be enough minutes to go around. Something may come up. Who knows? NBA is crazy sometimes...

i agree with you .. plus brooks, martin and ariza have not benefited from the open looks they will get bc of yao drawing double teams.. also brooks will not have a team keyed off to stopping him and he will benefit from the lanes created by the fronting of yao

I still think there's a very good chance Morey trades to upgrade at one position before the season starts. He has said he's looking to add another top-tier player, and the team has more players and assets than it needs. Most likely it'll be at small forward, and it'll bring more offense. It would really make the team a contender. But it just depends if the right deal opens up.

ummmm u want to trade a guy that was picked 8th overall just last year and a guy who has a about 8 million dollar expiring contract for a third string guard .. first of all their salaries combined are like 10 million... so if people were upset we payed 6 million for a back up guard how upset will they be if we get a third string guard making 8 million ???? i predict jermaine taylor or smith becomes our third string guard.. when was the last time rockets played their third string pg any meaningful minutes??? i think hill probably gets traded along with battier or jefferies for something but im thinking they are shooting for someone like iggy not a third string guard

we need a veteran backup shotting guard who can andle the play and run some plays. VETERAN importantly to mentor our pg's and to be a vocal leader.

Im just wondering who our go-to guy off the bench will be. It used to be landry. I think they are depending on Chase to be the scorer off the bench. It would be great if we could get/ develop another powerforward with low post moves to enable the team to play inside-out. Im not sure if i have the patience to wait for Hill or Paterson to fill that void.

    A top 5 defense...

Iguodala would help with that. Gerald Wallace would too.

We might have all the elements but we need to put them together better. For example, we've got offensive guys (Brooks, Martin, Scola), we've got defensive guys (Ariza, Battier, Lowry, Hayes), but in terms of all-around talents in the shape of a single human being, there's not much (Yao).

If we could take some of those standouts at what they do and trade them for players good at both offense and defense then we would in effect "concentrate" our talent, which is probably what Morey's trying to do as we speak. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of assets to trade for a player good at both offense and defense; we call those guys "stars".

If I had to pick a single facet of our game I'd still like to upgrade, it would have to be backcourt defense. Ariza and Battier I consider more wing-types; they'll chase the other team's shooter around the court or body up on the other team's long shooting guard; but what about the penetrating speed-as-his-strength guard?

Brooks and Martin make for a pretty shoddy defensive starting backcourt; unless you want to start Lowry with Martin and use Brooks as our instant offense 6th man (which is actually what I've been advocating doing ever since we acquired Martin), then there's a spot where you can upgrade the team.

Obviously there aren't many options that can compare with Brooks' O while providing better D. Deron, Rondo, Rose, Wall are pretty much untouchable. Paul is the prize of the trade deadline; let's hope the Rockets have enough pieces to make it happen.

I don't think we will have a particular go-to-guy off the bench. I think Lowry will push the ball up the court and whoever is open will get the ball. The bench for the Rockets is usually instant offense which includes fastbreak buckets. The go to guy will be whoever runs the court with Klow.

Chase will take Landry's role as the scorer off the bench. He is already a very well developed offensive player and he has the athleticism to become an elite defender. I expect by seasons end for him to be playing SF come crunch time over Ariza or Battier.

And there are 2 lottery picks from the past 2 drafts at PF on this team, what more could you want?
