what is whining to you? Respectively asking for more playing time yet explaining how you understand you dont want to ruin chemistry with how good your teammates are playing?

    I put question marks there.

I don't know what exactly the reason because I think that didn't make sense at that time, I still think they shouldn't play him at all. And it turned out playing him wasn't a smart move.

No what wasnt a smart move is letting a player play 7-8 mins a game and yet not telling him what you want to see out of him and then later sitting him out because you think you can predict the future. My biggest grudge is why they couldnt let t-mac stay on the court for atleast the amount of time they had already given him.

I just try to play my role with the little cameos that I make. It is what it is,” said McGrady, a seven-time All-Star. “Obviously (the coaches) are looking out for my best interest. They are trying to monitor my minutes. At the same time, I feel like it is time to really increase them and I think that is what is going to happen over the next couple of games.

He was obviously unhappy here and he talked to the media about " little cameos" instead keep it behind doors. So nothing wrong for RA to sit an unhappy player here.

What wasn't a smart move is they let Tmac played at all. You know he's going to do things based on his own interest like last season.

They didn't say they would shut Tmac down at that time. They said they'd have a meeting back home. And they did, and they reached agreement.

At that time, play a player who openly expressed unhappiness would be a distraction to the team. Ra was right to sit him.

they are what they are "little cameos" i am sorry it hurt your feelings but he wasnt whining in the interview. he expected to see his minutes increase. He didnt expect to be sent to the bench because his coach was afraid of what he might ask next.

He hasn't earned his minutes on the court, why should he tell media that "it's time to really increase minutes" ? He sounds like it's him to decide the minutes and RA did something wrong not to increase hims minutes.

That's respectable to his coach at the very least.

If he cared about his own interest he wouldnt have kept playing last season and watch his stats decrease as he played badly. since you made another assumption can i make one this time. A player who has something to prove wouldnt want to be sent to the bench because he asked for more mins. If anything if the coach said he didnt see anything yet, however he would still play him his usual minutes i would assume mcgrady would go even harder to prove his own coach, but he wouldnt want to be sent to the bench(healthy) and not play at all.

I think the problem with Ariza is that 2/3 of Clutch forum had higher expectations/believed Ariza was going to be a legit scoring threat, which is compounded by the fact that 2/3 of Clutch forum has zero patience and is constantly thinking up far fetched trade scenarios.

Ariza has been playing bad in this year the Roxs don't have any of their superstars. If you think keeping Artest, and not getting Ariza was a dumb move then quite frankly you deserved to be banned from sports. Have faith in this management because they have way more information than nearly everyone one to make those type of assets of players. If they decide including Ariza in a trade package to get a star is beneficial, then get it done. However, I think what has been hurting the Rockets the most (more than the perceived Ariza is causing the team to suck) is the general lack of ball movement and movement in general by the Rockets plus the difficult schedule. I would imagine they are pretty exhausted after the schedule they have had.

What sickens me most, is this forums perceived notion of Ariza's bad attitude. Some people on here act like a bunch of school girls gossiping during recess. The guy is just an intense player. For every comment of how Ariza is yelling at teammates, there he is giving the high five to AB or slapping a teammates ass in congrats. Did you check out Sport's Center and see AB and Ariza "hugging" after winning in 3 OT?

Bottomline, Ariza has demonstrated he can be worthy of playing alongside legitimate scoring threats (i.e. the Lakers). You have to look past this rebuilding/experimentation year and see the bigger picture when we have Yao + an undetermined star. There is no doubt Ariza is currently trying to play above his skillset but practice the virtue of patience. We aren't going to the finals so be happy we are still seeded in the top 8.

Why did you say adelman wasn't a man of his word?
RA didn't say after 6 games Tmac's minutes will surely increase. He'll reevaluate after that. And obviously he didn't feel Tmac should get more minutes.

he sounded to me like he knew how good his team was playing and there chemistry yet he felt he could make them better if they could increase his minutes so he could have more opportunities. I am sure mcgrady assumed the coach would let him but if he didnt i dont think mcgrady would have wanted to be sent to the bench and not play at all

well since you said it, wasnt mcgrady patient then after six games he went along with the schedule. I guess t-mac wanted it to be known to his coach how he was feeling after the six games.

You can make assumptions as long as you have a solid base instead of pure speculation.

Tmac didn't even player harder in that 7 minutes at defensive end. If he wouldn't want to go to the bench and not play at all, then don't open his trap to media about increasing minutes.
That's a distraction to the team. RA had right to sit him down just for that.

Then talk that with RA instead of media, to show respect for the coach. Whining to media about playing time is not a good thing to do for the team.

pI dont understand why didnt adelman tell mcgrady what he wanted to see out of him or what his plans are for the team. I dont think mcgrady got the idea that adelman wasnt planning on easing mcgrady back in. Adelman wanted mcgrady to be a factor right away and he didnt want to ease him back changing the way his guys would play. I think t-mac felt he was being monitored on how he felt after playing a game and if the next day his knee would still hold up, but again lack of communication again.

Nobody knows if RA told him he thought Tmac wasn't ready. If he had question, ask RA, don't claim " it's time to increase minutes" to media before that. He stabbed RA in the back first, just like he did to Rockets last season.

Rick adelman said it himself he was ok with a player asking for more minutes. What looked like something to you may have been different for mcgrady. he eventually started to progress but it wasnt much out of the 7-8 mins we saw. Rick adelman said it was just to get his feet wet, but he never explained that he wanted to see a t-mac that was of 2 years ago until after he sits him. Who knows what they wanted to do with his sitaution. would they play him more minutes so he can get up to game speed or did they want to see something out of him that would be a factor before they would start to increase his minutes. They never made thay clear

How is that a stab in the back. have you ever watched a sports interview. These arent issues that are top secret.

Sure it is OK to ask minutes face to face. It was OK to ask for surgery to GM.

But to media first? That's not the right thing to do. And Tmac did that more than once.

Nobody knows what RA told Tmac, so it's not a good assumption that Tmac desn't know what he needs to do on the court. In fact, he should know his play was a complete failure by his standards, asking for more minutes wasn't the right timing.
