    $100 1GB RAM stick.

Before my laptop in 2004 only had 512MB RAM, 128MB shared with the video card, giving me 384MB total. I bought the extra RAM in 2006 off ebay and my laptop has been a blur ever since. To this day it's performance is exceptional.

    Nice thread choice.

Hands down would have to be my cheap $300, Acer Aspire 3680 laptop.

When we bought it, I thought it's shelf life would be a year or two tops. 3 years later, it is rock ****ing solid. Upgraded the ram to 2 gb and the processor was already at a respectable 2.0 ghz and that's the only things I've touched on it since we bought it. It's been the anchor of our computer empire in the house. Whenever my piece of **** desktop doesn't work well or at all (which is often and I've given up on fixing it/replacing parts and just saving up for a new one), my laptop ALWAYS ALWAYS saves my ass by actually working properly and actually is very fast to boot. It's been there for me with numerous reports and projects over the years and I don't know what I'd do without it.

In short, I would make love to my laptop and frequently do.

I spent a bank on a bed frame and mattress 8 years ago, and it's the best purchase I ever made. I'm an insomniac, and I have a hard enough time getting a good night of sleep. However, I sleep sooooo much better on my bed.

My wife and I both complain when we stay with family or a hotel (even the nice ones) about the quality of the bed being subpar.

It's always amazing to me that beds are a place people skimp on considering how much time we spend sleeping.

My wife thinks it looks...uh...how should I say...functional

Seriously, I work from home so I'm not parading around an office. But CHI, if worrying about responses out weigh the pain in your back, well, keep looking. I don't think you'll find an easier, or cheaper method to correct your posture though.

I bought a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses over 20 years ago. They were pretty expensive back then but I still use them everyday while driving. Well worth the money since they have lasted this long.

This little thing has saved my ass on many occasions. I bought one for my wife for Christmas last year and she's used it twice already this year. Best $50 I've ever spent.

They make some great boots. In my second year in Chicago, I decided to spend the jack to get some good Timberlands. It was $100 or $120 or something. But, they lasted a decade and always kept my feet dry. After they finally wore out, I bought some of their shoes (now living down South and not needing boots) and they fell apart after less than a year.

Actually, I really like me shoes now. They are Clarks and were made to be super lightweight. The soles are thin, but they are very comfortable and light. Now, if I put on my sneakers or dress shoes, I get tired of how heavy they are.

Also in clothes, I have a leather jacket I'm so glad I bought. It was $400, but I waited for the after-Christmas sale. Then it was half-off, and I had gotten a couple of gift cards that added up to $150, so I spent less than $100 out of my pocket.

how much is a bank? i spent $70 on a 2 inch memory foam topper and that was like sleeping on a cloud. i could literally fall asleep within 15 minutes of laying on it. i need to buy a new one though since it was ruined due to Ike.

I bought a huge air matress for when we have extra company visiting. I got it from walmart. It's a queen size and blows up as big as a regular bed. It is very comfortable and firmness/softness can be adjusted by more or less inflation. It was under $25 and I got it about 5 years ago. It is very comfortable. Almost like a regular bed.

I bought 1,000 shares of WB 2 days before the merger with Wells Fargo was announced. That was a great purchase.
