God I know man... Traffic is terrible as it is now, then when SXSW/ACL whatever festival it just sucks.... The only upside is that UT students won't be contributing to the SXSW traffic that week... I really hope austin figures this whole traffic thing out soon, or we'll be worse than the bigger cities since we lack real infrastructure.

Any suggestions on Taos / Angel Fire New Mexico?! I'm taking my fire woman for our anniversary.

    Thanks in advance.

Make sure you drive out to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge a little east of Taos.

We also visted the Taos Pueblo last summer. It was a neat experience. Awesome, cheap food along with various crafts all sold by natives, many of whom live on the Pueblo.

Taos is a pretty neat town. They have a big square downtown too.

    Thanks Rocketman!

I've skied Toas mountain before, and have visited the square you are referring to. Lots of cool jewelry turquoise/silver etc. I love all of the Native American stuff I can get my hands on.

I will check out the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. My wife has never been there before, and we don't plan on skiing when we are there. Mostly due to the fact there won't be much snow. I plan on doing more site seeing, biking and hiking.

Check Rancho De Chimayo out as well. It's a beautiful drive from Taos south through the mountains. Great New Mexican food and a neat old church nearby.

Will do friend...we are going to be there for nine days, so we'll have plenty of time to check out some of God's Country. :)

Last summer, we spent close to a week in Santa Fe (Taos is about 75 minutes or so north) and we drove. It's probably a two-day drive from Houston, but could be done in one depending on who you're taking. A toddler, not so much.

South by Soutwest. Where all hell breaks loose in Austin and Downtown hotels and apartments go for 1-2K a night. It's actually pretty fun even without the thousand dollar badge.
