"Going out" - I don't understand why anyone would want to go to a club unless it was to see a certain band. I'd much rather just hang out at someone's house and not be surrounded by bimbos and douchebags, pay $8/beer, have to tip the bartender for opening said beer, and listen to horrible house/dance/trance/shmance music.

Facebook junkies - I have Facebook, I occasionally use Facebook, but I don't get the people who update their status every half hour. There is some friend of my wifes that keeps posting pictures of her pregnant belly. And ultrasound pics. Newsflash - you are the only one that cares that you're pregnant. Stop posting pics.

Grown men who are into comics - Look, I am nothing if not a Star Wars geek, but come on. Comic books? Really???

Summer blockbusters - I am not a movie snob, but I just have no desire to see movies like Iron Man, Transformers, etc.

Indie music - just because no one else has heard of them doesn't necessarily make them good. In most cases, it's the opposite.

Yeah, I mean I guess their are just a lot of different interpretations for this thread. Most things that came to mind for me, I ended up thinking of a logical reason for why someone would like that particular thing, so to me that means I "get" it.

For example, I have never been a fan of Lord of the Rings or Star Wars, yet I can understand why people would like them. Maybe I don't understand the overwhelming hype, but for the most part I get it.

On the crowded club/bar example- this is referring to a place that you walk in and can barely move. What's fun about having to huddle up with your group when it's much more comfortable to go somewhere less crowded or hang out at home? I love going to bars that you can sit down and have a good time, but not a place where it takes me 20 minutes just to get a drink at the bar.

I won't go through all of your examples again, but you should try peta bread at a greek restaurant. And as for weightlifting- I was never big into it until the last year or so, but after really doing the research and getting a routine down I can't go without it now. If by torture you mean soreness, that shouldn't last long if you're eating right and using the right form. I completely understand if people would rather get their exercise through running or sport, though. I guess the main reason I lift is the increased metabolism from building lean muscle mass.

Kudos to the OP for such a (perhaps unintentionally) genius thread.

    Absolutely love it.

Memo to the general population: saying you don't 'get' something is the same thing as saying you don't understand it.

Never admit you don't understand something if you ever expect to be taken seriously while talking about it.

i am sure it has been mentioned before

    but people who gossip/idolize celebrities

unless its like jessica alba naked pics or something i dont even care to know who they are, who they are doing etc. especially living here in LA i get friends all the time that freak out when they see a celeb out at the mall/restaurant etc.

the one * i will give for the above circumstance is if the celeb in question that is seen is your favorite celeb etc. but people will gawk/make a big deal out of anyone they see

people who always go to clubs - its fun every now and then but expensive to go all the time

facebook - i use it but i dont get how ppl obsess on it

in relation to fb people who have literally hundereds and hundreds of 'friends' but havent talked to before or people who have hundreds and hundreds of friends but seem to always be alone

how anyone can listen to hip hop/rap today with all that autotune crap

from time to time, I will be sitting t my desk when the local news goes off, and TMZ comes on....and well over half the time I find myself asking myself.. "Who the F is that and why should I care?" right before I go tryin to find the remote.

I also agree with you guys about going out to the clubs...we do some drinking at league, but mainly if folks in our group want to hangout, someone volunteers to have the rest come by and we hangout in comfort with drinks that dont cost us 8 bucks a shot

Creepy? Stalking? LOL not quite buddy. I'm fairly certain you continuously e-mailed me, especially this golden nugget:

The amount of effort I've "obsessed" over this by putting you in my sig is quite minimal. I've had a great time with your hilarious reactions to obvious e-frustration. :)

Baseball only makes sense if you're drunk, don't believe me? Ask Homer Simpson.
I don't think there are too many people of the feminine persuasion who agree with this, but I totally think that is dead on right.
Maybe if you put those two together, hummus and hard core p*rn, you'll get why people like it. I love me some pornmus.

R2K, you had to have a flaw somewhere. We all do. I forgive you, especially considering your debilitated state.

Deckard my friend, I know how much you appreciate and value your privacy, but Im gonna let you know next time I go up and spend the weekend on Lake Travis with one of my oldest friends, and if you dont at least slip out of the trees and walk over and say hi before disappearing into obscurity again I will never forgive you. :(

    and btw

I never said that Seinfeld didn't amuse me often, I just could never see it as the best comedy ever like many did. :p

    -Hayden Panettiere

-"New Age Advancers". As in, regular people who claim "We're in the 'new modern age' so,{insert change just for change sake concept}" Or we're in the 21st century, why does ____ exist?". Its like the Conan O'Brien Year 2000 skit mentality in everyday people. I'm not THAT stuck in the past. I'm supposed to believe everything is so advanced cuz we have internet and cool gadgets. But as long as hair is growing on my back and out my ears, I sense there's that savage element in place that'll be hard to scrape out.

Musically, I've all of a sudden turned into a non-mainstream listener. Maybe its a phase but top 40 music annoys me currently. I can see how people apply that sentiment toward movies. I think its because everyone's opinion these days is "Everything SUCKS, its not what it used to be". And you look past all that and their IS quality out there. Popular media doesnt always provide it, gotta look for it. Will avoid the snobbery, though.

Similarly with the everything sucks sentiment, I thought I WAS a no-fun having sourpuss but MAN there's some wet blankets in here :)

I used to think kids before 25 was THE requirement, no exceptions. And for the most part I still do. But women have so many options. If they're going to go through 8 years of school just to be a housewife ANYWAY, might as well get on that in the more fertile years. Especially with working at home getting more popular. I HATE saying that, just it makes sense really..
