you know .. this type of statements are beginning to get just a little tiresome Rocket River . . and it ain't just Amare. . . they get thrown around ALOT to various types of players but I will leave it there . . . The word for the day is EUphemism
I don't care the "logic" of AS's word or how great a player he is, I am just a fan, or a junior fan. I just don't like him. He behaves in the exact way which I hate. An athelate should respect other athelates. If he does not, other athelate has the right to kick his ass. I support SF.
Heh. I remember reading this. It really shows how much this brainac really knows about basketball. Honestly, he should be fired for simple lack of basketball knowledge abd obvious and venomous stupidity. How do you say "idiot" in Chinese? Stuart
i don't know, but i know how to say "defense" in chinese though. i thought that was a cool thing to add at the stadium.
Just a quick, last reply for the bozos who dominate any thread having anything to with Yao: I wasn't defending Amare and I'm not especially a fan of his. (I am, incidentally, a huge Yao fan. He's my favorite Rocket and my favorite NBA player, but I don't think I have to hate Amare to be a "true" fan of the team or of Yao.) I was just asking why he was hated so much and if it was just because of the ROY thing. And I got my answer -- it was. So, bottom line, the haters are just dumb. That's all I was wondering. Thanks for clearing it up. Now get back to flooding the board with the same old boring crap we've all come to know and love.
You guys act like a guy can't get dunked on unless he is covering him one on one. There have been many people who have been dunked on by coming over and trying to provide help defense. It happens to Shawn Bradley just about every game.
Please try not to lump everyone into one little ball to make things more tidy. Many of us just dont like anyone who's cocky and arrogant, especially someone who says they played good D on a guy who shot 11-16 with 19 boards. Maybe we been spoiled by talents with class like Dream and Clyde, who recognize what really happened in a game and not bullsh*t about how they da man when their team is the 2nd worst record in the conference. Phoenix Suns may be used to Amare, but frankly most Rox fans don't like anyone like him, blame it on Dream and Clyde for being so classy and talented.
Just to put things in perspective, how would you feel if Cato said the same thing that Amare said after "holding" KG to 11-16 shooting with stats of 29pts/19reb/6blk? I'm sure we'd all let him know what a delusional moron he is for even thinking such a stupid thing.
I was at the game, and I thought when I yelled repeatedly, not to far from the court, "AMARE GO BACK TO THE TRAILERPARK" and "AMARE DO YOU KNOW WHO YOUR DAD IS?" My voice was real hoarse by the fourth and ot I did too much yelling in the first when we up by 20 hehe
I'm not even drunk and my posts come out that way, maybe thats why I don't post much, but I love the idea of getting into players heads
Yawn. Steve's said far worse after being outplayed (notably about the Mavericks), while missing the playoffs four times in a row. He's also been guilty of showboating plenty himself. Especially when he was Amare's age. His actions were totally hypocritical and nothing Amare said after the game or did during the game was particularly insulting to Yao. And that's all from the perspective of a huge Rockets fan (since the 70s), a huge SF fan and a huge Yao fan. This stuff is stupid.
And you brag about that? That's way over the line. You're lucky he didn't run in the stands and kick your ass. You would have deserved it.
Well I thought we were having a discussion, but apparently you don't care too much for my comments. I'll speak my mind anyway, maybe the reason why there is so many trade SF threads is be because he hasnt endeared himself to Houston fans like Clyde and Dream did. I don't have a problem with what SF did or Amare did during the game, nor do I have a problem with showboating in general (I just think that majority of the time, those who showboat don't always wind up winning). As for what Amare said after the game, I didn't think he insulted Yao with his comments either. In my mind, he insulted himself with his lack of understanding that shooting 7-26 and needing 17 FT attempts to reach 26 points usually means you're harming your team in some aspect. I wasnt looking for him to give Yao any props, I was just surprised at his unabashed me attitude that was displayed thorugh his ignorant comments. Perhaps it was just adrenaline or euphoria, or perhaps it was long pent up frustration over his perceived lack of attention in compariosn to Yao. You think you're more knowledgeable than everyone because you're showing love to Amare and that we're just ignorant Rox fans who cant see the turth if it bit us (which for some people are justified), but what you're really doing is taking it to extremes where you're insulting anyone who disagrees with your opinion. I'm sure you do have quite a bit of knowledge abuot basketball and all the players in the league and dont waste your time following ONLY the Rox (like some of us), and I appreciate you sharing your wealth of knowledge with us. I know that I for one have become a better fan of the game due to your ingenious nuggets of information. Thank you so much! Batman Jones is the smartest BASKETBALL fan on this board (becuase he knows about people other than the Rox!) Please accept my praise as a sign of my intention to worshp all that you say abuot the NBA.
While the above shows a certain lack of diplomacy and youth of Amare. He definitely showed maturity and discipline when SF put his forearm to his chest. I wish he would have retaliated and gotten him and SF ejected, might have meant a win instead of a loss. I see some good things said about Yao, "Yao played great", so lets not be too hard on the young man.
The twist here is that maybe Amare was paying such high respect to Yao that he is happy to hold Yao to 29-19-6. If you read Sun's coaches comment on "how great Amare was playing D on Yao to deny him scoring opportunities" and you got the feeling that the whole team felt lucky that Yao did not pour in 40 points against them. If that's the case, I have absolutely no problem with it. I hope that Yao can average 29-19-6 for the rest of his career to give his opponents oppotunities to boast about what great D they play against Yao.
