Amare had two sick dunks. I didn't think he was doing anything out of the ordinary when he yelled and posed. It happens every night in the NBA and it's just become part of the game. I think Amare is still an immature kid, but he took the higher route by not retaliating when Steve elbowed him in the neck. In any case, Yao outplayed Amare. Amare's comments were a bit off. but we lost. that's the main thing. we lost to a team that we shouldn't lose to.
That's ESPN for you. It's all about TV ratings. Can we blame the young kids for going for the flashy stuff? They all want to be on the Sportscenter.
Amare better hope he doesn't catch "jumper's knee" or something. Not being able to jump would definitely cost him his career.
I just use that pic foe fun Dunk means nothing to me. No kidding. I'll always take Yao over Amare because Yao has all-side skills while Amare is simple a athletic player with a stone hands. I'll give AS some credit if only he improve his skills.
I've had the utmost hatred for Amare since the Rox played the suns for the first time last season (my first look at him.) Yao had to switch on defense and ended up one on one with Marbury. Marbury broke Yao's ankles and Yao ended up on the floor. Amare was on the bench and fell off the chair and rolled on the floor laughing. I guess i can inderstand it from his perspective, but it still pisses me off. He's a spoiled brat.
Just found this quote in Arizona Republic. "Although Stoudemire shot 7 for 26, his ability to deny Yao allowed Phoenix to stay small and rally. " http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepublic/sports/articles/0316suns0316.html Cracks me up. Makes you wonder if Amare is actually stupid or just happens to turn stupid because he move in Arizona. With comments like this it's obviously why he thinks so highly of himself. You go Amare... you sure denied Yao last night.
I have no interest in reading anything coming out from the Arizona Republic ever since its columnist Randy Brickley published this garbage (11/15/02 ): "...Inside of three or four years, (Yao will) probably be history." "It also brings to mind an interesting question: How do you say LaRue Martin in Chinese?" "A master of almost no facet of the game, Yao makes Martin look like another historic basketball figure, Wilt Chamberlain. Manute Bol has a better chance of playing hockey than Yao does of having an All-Star career..."
That's the point isn't it? I mean, Amare may be dumb as a brick, but it's hard not to be arrogant when you are in a group jerking circle where only you get some "action."
LoL damn MFW, I can't even quote that. You just compared the Phoenix Suns to a Cirlce Jerk LoL. Gives whole new meaning to their so called "Ring of Honor"
That pisses me off royally, too. It is a reason why I am finding myself watching less and less of Sportscenter.
All this Amare stuff isn't such a deal but if anything, it just shows the difference in the players, Yao with his team play and quiet nature (he's getting better, but he won't completely erase his respectful Asian side) and Amare with his chest-thumping playground bit. Speaking of playground players, our own point guard....(sigh) Never mind. Not to be a complete homer, but we were playing without our primary power forwards, such as they are. Even though Amare would have probably "still got his," and yapped it up after, it does make a difference with Yao playing most of the game and basically having to cover everyone.
agree. i just hate how people who only watch sportscenter will think Amare played yao even or outplayed him. Think about it, what are they going to say? Yao misses freethrows and potential game winner. Amare: 24-15 (not gonna mention the FG%), clutch baskets, two huge dunks on Yao. The only reason Amare was able to dunk on Yao twice was because one he was guarded by Cato and once by Padgett, and those two were HOPELESS to stop his first step. Yao was the HELP defender. He could have totally step out of the way but went to challenge the shot anyway.
Amare is a raw player the fact that he is putting up 19 points a game this year without a solid jumpshot shows how special he can be. Don't forget the kid is 21 years old. He's going to improve every year. Yao versus Amare should grow into one of the marquee matchups in the NBA. Amare probaly wasn't thinking straight based on his comments. But I'm sure he will learn the truth when he watches this gametape again.
Alright, my second is up ... how is Stoudemire = Tyson. Is this supposed to be an insult towards Amare, or are you comparing their childhood and success in athletics at an early age?
