A-freaking-men!! If I ever get done listening to Neil and Bob (I am almost there), I'll need to listen to that album - best song, IMO, is "Double Life".
bob dylan was terrible last night, which sucks because i've been on a little dylan kick past week or so.... but man, his voice is completely shot. it was hard to listen to.
i had my expectations set quite low so i was pleasantly surprised. the first couple songs were pitiful, but there were parts as the evening progressed that he was doing well, relatively speaking. i love that they changed around so many of the songs to the point where you couldnt recgonize it till you heard the lyrics (at least when it was possible to understand the guy). i walked up when he was doing everybody must get stoned and it was so bad i almost turned around and left, but i love dylan and had never seen him before. once you got up to the back row of speakers behind the soundboard, it really wasnt that crowded. by the time the show was over i was just to the left of the soundboard. it seemed like his keyboard was not on most of the time. i couldnt hear it at all - or the soundman was just turning him down more and more as the show went on.
I've heard nothing but bad things about Dylan's performance at ACL. Did anyone see him at Stubbs the night before? Also...how was Denny Freeman's guitar playing?
yeah, i actually left in the middle of the 3rd song , but that's mainly b/c i had been there all day and still needed to drive back to houston... but he made my decision pretty easy, and that does suck. i knew what to expect, though... people have been saying for awhile that he's really declined on stage but that his band was pretty top notch. too bad i was too far away to really appreciate it. good to hear that the rest of the set picked up after i bailed.

I was afraid of this. He's coming to the Ryman this Thursday (which I didn't know until last week) - too bad I can't go as me and the Mrs. are going this Saturday to see Interpol instead. Yet, I always felt that seeing Dylan now would be a disappointment since his voice has changed so much. And I also find it very tedious to listen to his latest albums (although "Love and Theft" has started to grow on me). I know it was due to the many years of smoking, but I still can't help wonder what might have been. I guess it is harder for me to accept when I listen to "Living With War" by Neil Young and find his voice to sound pretty much like it did on "After the Gold Rush". SWT, Jo, Tex, and anyone else who cares: Neil is releasing another studio album next month (I think it comes out on the 16th) called "Chrome Dreams II". From what I read so far, it looks to be pretty similar to "Freedom" with various styles running throughout the album but united with a common theme. Can't wait to hear it!
That's a good one; although I hate it how they ruin the end of that song by overlaying the next song on top. Sigh. I also really like "It's All I Can Do" but the whole thing is pretty much great.
if you are a dylan fan at all i think he would be worth seeing at least once. after 3 days i was really tired, im glad i stuck it out. at least now i can say ive seen the guy - it was a memorable show for me. if its possible to see both interpol and bobby d i would try!
