The Mavs are considered the front runners but this guy could be what we need at the starting 4 spot... He is an energy guy who can rebound! Last nights win against the suns (yes the suns) was all about heart and energy Anderson Varejao is all about heart and energy Thoughts? We have the roster spot
David Lee doesnt play any defense and the problem with this team is defense We played defense last night Anderson Varejao reminds me of Patrick Beverly at the 4 spot He does all the little things
All these guys are surely fired up on the possibility of joing a broken team fighting for the 8th seed.
Anyone know much about him? I can't see a big difference between him and Capela or Harrell at this point, but I don't know anything about Varejao's defense. I don't buy the argument that highly active and aggressive players are necessarily great defenders. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. This season is done, so I'd rather play Capela and Harrell serious minutes than see a slightly better 36 year old eat those minutes up so we can get bounced out of the first round. Also we don't have a problem with big man rebounding. We have a problem rebounding as a team. Dwight and Capela outrebound their counterparts on most nights. Josh and Jones are average. Now that Josh and Dwight are starting, we need better rebounding from the SF and from the bench. I fee like replacing Brewer with McDaniels in the rotation and having Smith start can swing things our way enough to not need to worry about this.
I doubt the Rockets pick up anyone. They are like 200k below the tax. I don't think they are going to pay the tax to add Varejao.
No , last nights win against the Suns was all about how bad the Suns are .... Nothing about the heart and energy of the Rockets. They should trounce teams like Phx 10 times out of 10. Talk to me about heart & energy when they beat a good team , not a team obviously tanking.
You know it's bad when Rockets fans are celebrating a win over the Suns who were missing Tyson Chandler.
We need to quit worrying about other players to solve our probably. Just think what Pop would have done with this team as is. We would be top 3 in the league with the exact same roster as we have now.
I don't think Pop would keep this roster the same, he would never play Lawson, Smith or Brewer for example.
Last night was good. Just 2 weeks ago the Rockets played the Suns and the Rockets barely won by 6 points. It was only a 3 point game with 17 seconds left when Phoenix started to foul. Rockets went down to the Suns by 15 points at one point in that game. Last night, the Rockets were up by 27 points in the 4th quarter until they put the scrubs in and won by 16. That is a night and day difference. Just another tidbit... do you know how many games this season the Rockets have won by more than 16 points? 3. And all 3 games were against the Lakers. That's it. So that was a solid performance last night.
Of course you leave out that the Rockets were losing to the Suns until Tyson Chandler got hurt.....they probably wouldn't have won if he stayed in the game. Should we really consider a win over a shorthanded Suns team a "good" win?
That's a load of bull. Rockets were down 34-33 when Chandler left the game. The Rockets were missing shots early. All NBA games are generally close halfway through the 2nd quarter. Rockets held the Suns to 36% shooting and that had nothing to do with Tyson Chandler.
