Our defense will be fine. Maybe not as good as last year (top 3) but we'll definitely be on the better half. Most of Adelman's teams have finished in top 10 in defense.
Adleman doesn't like to play zone People forget that the sacramneto kings of 2002-2003 were the best team in the league in opponents field goal percentage which usually determines the leagues best defensive team a stat that the san antonio spurs hold regularly. This was with the same team being 1 and 2 in the league in offensive filed goal percentage.
Good defense comes with good defenders and the Rox have Yao and Battier and i think Francis is an upgrade over Rafer because of his size.
our 'team defense' couldn't get crucial rebounds in game 7. if our offense had been better it wouldn't even have been an issue.
Ditto ... I have to agree with Charles Barkley (kill me now), I dont think VanGundy was really a good defensive coach at all, just because you hold the ball 24 seconds every possesion and slow down the game it doesn't make you "a great" defensive coach. While he may have been a master at interupting the flow of a game, thus low fg %'s, when his team needed stops they didnt get them.
The Rockets sacrificed a some offense to be a great defensive team. Now the Rockets will sacrifice some defense to be a great offensive team. Besides, Adelman's teams were pretty good defensive teams.
They are? Which Dallas Mavericks team are you talking about here: the one with Eric Dampier playing in slow motion or the other one with Dirk Nowitski performing his great vanishing act?
I have that right here for you brother. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/stats/b...diff&sort=232&conference=NBA&year=season_2002 #1 Dallas Mavericks +7.8 pts #2 Sacramento Kings +6.5 pts #3 San Antonio Spurs +5.4 pts
Your right. Avery Johnson didn't come in and change the mindset of the Mavericks 2 yrs ago..they got lucky beating SA and Phoenix last year..they outscored both of them.. I mean they only bet SA 3 out of 4 last year and the last 4 playoff games in SA..why don't you watch a game every once in a while..
The one who only gave up 92.8 per game last season? Houston allowed 92.1 Dallas allowed 44.7% opp. fg- only 2 teams were better.. last season
Adelman had the top defensive team in the league during 5 of his seasons, he had the top offensive team 4 of his seasons. So the man can also coach D, of course we won't be too good on D this year because our players are bad at D, hopefully we can be at least decent through communication on D.
What are you talking about that the defensive teams are obsolete.. they do have a proof that defense is the major reason why they are winning championship...
As the outcome of a basketball game is determined by outscoring the opponent, much more crucial than defense is the ability to outscore your opponent by a lot. San Antonio, for all the accolades on their defense, is a very good offensive team. And the Lakers under Kobe/Shaq had always been at least good defensive teams(except one champioinship run), but incredible on offense. JVG's Rockets, on the other hand, is too unbalanced. And our lack of offensive firepower was on full display in the Jazz series. Adelman teams have traditionally been pretty good on both sides. It's just that his Sacramento teams seemt are much more known for their offense than defense.
