Wait, what? I can't tell If this is sarcasm or not. Someone help me? Rondo is ALL leadership and intangibles, and Dwight certainly has some of the most significant intangibles in the league on the defensive end of the floor.
Lin was injured this playoff, and sample size is so small it doesn't matter. Point is Rondo can't shoot. Look at D-wade. Spurs just left him outside and shrank the defense. Our opponents will do the same and limit Harden's drives
Rondo and Dwight are both well documented headcases with questionable effort levels at times. The two of them together might be a recipe for disaster and bad for the locker room.
So you're OK with Harden dominating the ball that when it comes to the 4th quarter he doesn't have the legs to finish strong and just flops his way around the basket. Give me Rondo anyday.
Is that all people can say is cant shoot dude is a playmaker with the ball lets talk about his 10 assit a game his rebounds steals. Oh and 10 playoff triple doubles.
We're not looking for a point guard to run the offense through. Harden will pretty much have the offense running through him. Our point guard should be able to play off the ball and share that duty with Harden (to take some stress playmaking stress off him). I honestly think Tony Parker would be a better fit, even without the consistent three point threat.
I'm not sure I understand this idea that Rondo wouldn't fit. It's certainly not a perfect fit to what we were doing this past season, but when you get a PG of Rondo's caliber, everyone adjusts. Harden wouldn't have the ball in his hands as much, and guess what, the team would be better for it. Harden as primary ball handler is not ideal. Dude often makes terrible decisions when it counts.
Rondo is a player that on paper won't fit on any team, but in actuality, will fit with any team. Much like a Jason Kidd, he effects the game in many ways. If you look at the one glaring weakness, you'll realize that his strengthens are so damn up there(playmaking, stealing, rebounding) and his intensity is so high that you must sacrifice some here and some there. If we were capable of getting Rondo, we'd do it. His contract is a no-brainer, and he's a player that can fit anywhere. He's a micro-manager and a stat padder, but more than that he's a very intelligent and crafty player. You can sag on him like the Heat did with Wade & LeBron, but that gives him MORE time to seek cutters and open men. You can pressure him and he'd drive. Teams do sag him but he still finds a way to be very effective. The one thing we'd have to limit with him is how much he controls the pace and the game. He tends to have too much pride-- more so an ego-- when it comes to dictating the game simply cause he WANTS such high assist numbers purposefully.
yes! you guys are crazy. Would you really rather keep lin over rondo? If we get dwight, and there's an opportunity to trade asik for rondo and lee, that's a no brainer. figure out the ball dominance bs later, cause at the end of the day, rondo is a great pg. He's just as good at shooting as lin too.
This is probably the reason for drafting Canaan. He'll be Beverly's backup while waiting for Rondo to heal.
Rondo is the player with the highest assist ratio of the last years - you don't just say no to that. Of course he isn't the best fit (neither is Lin by the way) - the question would just be: is Harden 100% about winning? If so, we could make it work. Harden is a great spot up shooter, Rondo is a great off the ball cutter. Rondo as the primary ball handler, Harden with his fair share of isos, that could work. And Lee would be the ideal backup for Harden. If you are looking for ideal fit, you might want to consider Calderon - cheaper than Lin and a real dead eye shooter from 3. But again, if Rondo is available for cheap, you have to consider it. This team is championship worthy: Rondo/Beverly Harden/Lee Parsons/Lee Moti/Jones Howard/Smith
Random rumor on RealGM about Rondo to Rockets- begins at the bottom of the first page. http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1259121
"Defense wins championships" The Rockets' achilles heel was defense. Rondo is one of the best in the business at that end of the court. On offense, it's nonsense to think that Rondo game is uncomplimentary of Dwight or Harden. Rondo has been the best in the league for two consecutive years at creating easy baskets for his team mates.
