To be fair, Payton is not really that motivated this year - he's getting benched like hell, is not getting shots, and doesn't have a big role on this team. He doesn't like riding Shaq and Kobe to a ring - unlike Malone.

Oh, he LIKES, otherwise he wouldn't have taken a pay cut and accept a role as 4th option. Malone and Payton, they are the same, all bangwagon jumper, but as usual, they will never be rewarded.

I agree with Uprising - and want to add that after reading this board today, I am convinced that most posters:

    1) JUST watch Rocket games - and not out of market games (becasue they all want to trade Francis for any generic scrub who had ONE good game that just happens to be against the Rox)

and 2) the Rockets games they do watch are from 1997

i would DEFINITELY bring in Payton if the option presented itself.

Keep in mind the original poster said if we can get him for CHEAP. Even at his current age, he is more of a PG than Francis will ever become.

No kidding. A catcher's mit so old that a good fastball rips right through the pocket and knocks out the catcher's teeth. Man, MJax could break that guy's ankles now.

That's some funny sh*t, dude. GP has been nothing short of awful in the playoffs this year.

Gary Payton is a physical marvel. Even though his legs and body are moving slower his mouth has somehow found a way to move faster. GP is not the answer for the Rockets.

I think Payton would be a perfect fit for the Rockets. He's an upgrade over Mark Jackson, and he just doesn't fit in with t he Lakers. I don't know if it's the triangle or Phil Jackson or what, but he's got game left. He could be our third guard and he's not staying with the Fakers, so we could pick him up without giving up shiit.

I'd rather see someone younger -- someone that can grow with Yao. I think Yao will hit his stride (find himself) in 2-3 years it would be nice to have the pieces in place for then.

if he would play for the same $ as this year and would take coming off the bench like a man GP would be perfect. did nobody watch the lakers at the start of the season? gp ignited their fast break after every rebound. you got to realize that he is the only one of the big four who played every game this year and yeah, he is older. that being said, he wouldnt take that money and he wouldnt want to come off the bench.

How true! Gary Payton is just one big sellout. I don't want him on the Rox team.
