I would try to sign and trade for him with some of guards or with even shane battier at most. Darko's offensive skill set along with his height make him a natural fit with yao. I would be glad if Andris Biedrins type stats, but instead getting his shots from open jumpers and easy dunks he would be getting from all the attention on Yao. It would be on adelman to try to motivate and use him correctly. This is what would be regarded as high risk, high reward and when you have very little assets like us, those are the deals you have to think about.

I wouldn't be opposed to him at all, but I doubt we get him for the MLE and he just isn't worth a bigger deal or a trade involving Battier.

Get it done Morey! The Rashard theory never stood a chance. Kids have more practical expirements in elementary school science fairs. :(

    Darko

Thought I'd make a thread about him since he's supposedly going to hit the market. He's young, has size, is mobile, and is a very good shot blocker. He's a pretty good rebounder considering he was mostly a backup and played next to big Dwight. Supposedly has good passing skills and can knock down open jumpers, which would make him very useful in the high post. He's still somewhat of a mystery because he's never been a starter for a full season and he's never been asked to do a whole lot since playing on the Pistons and playing next to Dwight. On the plus side, we don't need him to do much besides rebound and block shots and protect the paint so Yao doesn't get into foul trouble. Would he be worth full MLE if we can't work out a trade for someone else?

I think so, sadly he is probably the best option we got in free agency.

My first choice would be to go after Jason Max from the pistons, I love how he plays....

I am warming up to the idea of darko coming over, he has the size we need and the offense as well as shotblocking. He can bulk up and I'm sure yao can teach him a thing or two. Offense and shotblocking are key here, and I think he will do well in an adelman offense.

I don't know...... will this kid become a force? I guess I will have to treat him as a 1st year rookie...

But if he can do this ( not to us of course ) day in and day out then I would be pleased with him on the roster.

I think he's worth the full MLE. Playing under Coach A and learning even more next to Yao he could very well end up blossoming into a star. With the new style of play we all predict, he could end up being the best bargain out there and the best fit for us at the same time. With a couple twin towers guarding the lane and an improved backourt, we could very well be on our way to greater things.

I guess I may be coming around a little too, if the price is right. Chuck and Carl should hopefully provide enough of a contrast to keep him from screwing everything up.

Milicic would be a nice addition if the Rockets can't get what they want. I'm not too sold on him though. He reminds me of Juwan Howard as far as impact on a game. He could block better than Juwan. Although he'd be a great backup to Yao Ming in Adleman's system.

whoops I posted my bit in the wrong thread.
I'd rather get Yi than Darko, at least we know that Darko is a failure, but the infallible intellect of most people assume he is such a great choice? The dude has been in the league 4 years, and got 8 ppg 5.5 reb. in 23 mins on an Eastern Conference team.
LEMME THROW OUT A NAME HERE:
    Slava Medvendko
4th YEAR: 8.3ppg 5.1 reb. in 21 mins in the WEST.
So Darko just turned 22? What does that mean? It means nothing. T-Mac came into the league at 18, look at him now, he's what 28? But he's moving like he's 32.
Age factor doesn't really matter when you get past 4 years in the NBA and still have mediocre stats, and hell, he was on the Pistons, NBA champs for 3 years, seems like he hasn't learned much.
I think he is tricking everyone into thinking he's going to be so good, like 80% of the people on this board, when he says he wants 10 million. But fortunately most NBA executives aren't so blind. And yeah I've watched him play.

No brainer, they would stupid not to do everything that they can to get Darko. He will fit like a glove in this system, he will be a better player and the rockets will a nightmare to face with a lineup of james or brooks, Darko and Yao, Mcgrady and Battier with wells and company coming off the bench. Adelman only plays 7-8 guys.

This whole Darko charade just sounds so damn similar to the craziness that surrounded Stromile Swift before we signed him. In fact the comments sound identical.

He's young, has potential, blah blah blah..

In fact their stats look eerily similar in the same amount of minutes.

Stromile is mindless and doesn't really have a feel for the game in the way that darko does. Darko played in system in Europe that are similar to what adelman is bringing here to houston. Darko knows how to pass and is a willing passer and in this system ball movement is a must. Him and yao will be dangerous and I feel they can form one of the best frontcourt tandems this league has seen in a while because of the fact that both players are unselfish. They would be real scary in this new system

If we could sign Darko to the MLE, resign Hayes, and resign Deke I would be happy with the big spots. Then we might try to do a sign and trade for Gerald Wallace. He can play 3 positions and would probably move Battier to backup SF. I wonder if the Bobcats would be interested in Alston + VSpan + Snyder. They are very light at PG.

I was like "no way" at first but after doing a small amount of research I have to agree.
