You can never have enough shooters. If the Rockets were able to get Kyle, and Novak becomes the player we hope, then why not do it. Novak will be the deadeye shooter at the 3 and 4, while Korver would handle 2 and 3. Of course I wouldn't want both of them on the floor at the same time, but if Yao dominates the post, then we'll always have a 3 point specialist at all times.
i like that idea. i have always thought korver is what we needed, a 3s specialist. (nothing against novak, but he's not really to be our starter yet). signing lucas and vspan shouldn't be a problem, unless other teams made a better offer. (suns?) now all we need is trade howard and head away for a starting PF/c type of player. we will all be missing our head.
i dont want any part of damon jones, as he is all style and little substance. kyle korver on the other hand, is a big sg/sf and a terrific shooter, something all you jj redick fanatics were spouting as the reason to draft redick. in van gundy's help system, korver defensive shortcomings could be disguised somewhat. and remember hes still very young so he can continue to improve on his defense
I think you'll have Van Gundy's antics to back you up on this one, but cause he's a rookie he's not worthy of rotational time. Outside of expierence, what does Korver have or do any better than Novak?
Can we wait til Steve Novak proves himself against real NBA talent before declaring him someone you can count on? He is a nice prospect as of now, nothing more.
I do agree, but what is different in his skillset, not talent, not in-game expierence, but skillset from Kyle's? I don't think Novak will warrant any consistent, rotational minutes, infact. I believe he's a spot-minute player.
Thats my thinking. Many times Jones has come up with killer threes off the double team. Remember his clutch shot with Cleveland in the playoffs last year. Doubles in the post on Yao will kill other teams.
Damon Jones has seen his stock drop with Cavs. He's only a shooter with adequate PG skills and he does'nt play defense. He's not a perfect fit for the Rockets. As for K. Korver, like some others said in the forum we had Novak already who is in the same mold but taller which offers some advantage. Novak's rookie contract is also a lot cheaper than what Korver has now.
http://www.medina-gazette.com/Articles.asp?num=59249298 "Shooting guard Damon Jones is being shopped elsewhere, which is a shame because he was one of the Cavaliers' better players from February on. "D.J." made just under half of his 3-point attempts over the season's final four months, including a pair of game-winning bombs on the road. Unfortunately, Cleveland almost has to deal Jones for cap flexibility since it is already on the hook for $21 million to Eric Snow — thanks to yet another brilliant trade made by ex-GM Jim Paxson. ..."
How many wideopen treys did you see him drop in when he had Shaq in the middle? Seemed he was doing it nightly.
Damon jones would be a solid addition. He showed his 3pt shooting ability with the heat couple seasons ago and would be a benefit to yao and T-mac. Damon jones can hit those 3 balls when yao or t-mac gets double.
I don't really see why everyone is so high on Korver. Do we really need another SF? If there is a hole, it's at the PF spot, and that should be where the focus. I think we are set at both guards and SF until the season gets here and we see what we actually have. Then again, maybe we could apply for a six man exception fromt he league. Korver could stay on one side and shoot and Bowen could play on the other side to guard Korver's man. They would just have to promise not to cross the half-court line...
I agree...I'll take Korver or Jones....Jones is a selfish "all about me" type player who dresses like he is running some w**** house in las vegas...that guy needs a new style consultant....Korver can hit the outside shot and he has learned not to be a selfish player (since he never got any shots playing with Iverson)....
Last year this would be a tempting thread, But not this year. We have Novak who is in the same exact mold as Damon and Korver. Maybe two of the players in the same mold is a good thing, but you have Novak for less than a mil for 3 or four years so why pay for more to get the same player. Use the MLE on a more athletic player.
Getting a good PF would free up Battier to play at the 3,some minutes at the 4 and also at the 2 which would better than having him to start at the 4. It would also make things easier for T-Mac. Korver is expensive and Damon doesn't pass or defend well.
don't know if this has been posted yet on other threads...my first post, hope it's not pointless, but i heard on 740 that Novak and the Rockets signed his rookie contract...2 or 3 years...wasnt paying too close attention since the entire Gulf is being dumped on houston as of now...
