I hate to bring up dallas but one thing they did witch seemed to help them in the end was trade for value even if they did not really need it at the time. Krover has good trade value so even though he may not be exactly what we need right now he could be used later as trade bait in another deal.
I like Korver and it seems like 98% of this board does too. He can shoot lights out and with Yao and Tracy getting double teamed you leave Korver right open for the 3...How about Korver and Eddie House. Is there any possible way that would work for us ?
I'm sure Philly would want the TE as it looks like they are going into rebuilding mode very soon. Once Iverson is gone, Korver won't put up the numbers anyway since he isn't particuarly good at creating his own shot. The thing is the only thing Korver can do is hit open shots and he has a one dribble & pull up move that's okay. He doesn't play defense because he is limited athletically and he has only an average Bball IQ in addition to being very turnover prone if forced to dribble. He's an okay rebounder when motivated, but he is just damn streaky at everything he does. He doesn't lose faith in his shot(which is good), but when he's cold, he can be cold for several games until he gets his mechanics back. I had him on a Fantasy basketball team last year so I tried to keep an eye on him most of the season in addition to catching a few 76ers games when I visited Philly last year. Korver worked his way into the doghouse last year and didn't make it back into the bigger minutes until late last year - I presume so as to not to hurt his trade value too much. The thing about Korver is why would we want him when he have Novak who does the same thing but is maybe a little smarter and taller. Keep Novak at pennies on the dollar and pass on Korver. As for Jones, I don't see the draw to Jones but I guess if you wanted him to reproduce the stats he did while on the Heat, than he has a good shot of that playing along side of Yao. He talks a lot and his game isn't great, but he can dish the ball and can hit the three. That's not too bad. As a backup PG, he would probably be pretty effective. The problem is Rafer is kind of backup material too - how do you go into the season with two quality backups and no starter quality guy? ...by the way, speaking of the 76ers if there is one guy I would LOVE to have in Houston it would be Iguadala. I know there is little chance of Philly giving him up, but that guy is awesome. He plays "D", boards well for a SG, and we know the guy can throw down on anyone in the league. Too bad CD couldn't take a bad contract off Philly's hands(anyone not named Weber) in order to package with Iggy...ya, I know - just dreaming.
Kyle Korver shot 42% from THREE POINT range last season ...but the GARM posters say he sucks, so it must be true
I like Korver alot. Defense, smefense, this guy can shoot. On this team, he would have wide open looks. Do it. Jones is funny, wild clothes, can hit the three, but take Korver.
While KK's contract carries thru '10/'11, DJ is three yeaqrs -- the Rox magic number??? IMHO - Cavs would take the TE in a heartbeat and Philly will be stagnant until AI is (likely???) dealt.
in all honesty who do u expect us to get with the TE thats better than korver, well i shud say..who do u expect us to get that fits in better than korver.....realistically
I like Korver more than Jones. Yao and Tmac suck the defense... kick to wide open Korver - three points. He's not playing defense on Kobe, but he can shoot the ball, when we need that shot. Korver is Matt Bullard. Jones doesn't seem to know his role, even with Shaq and Wade. That seems like a real problem to me. Dude needs to check himself. If we're trading for a slightly overpaid combo guard, that's expendable on his current team, I'd rather target Antonio Daniels in Washington. He played very well off Ray Allen, and I'd think he could play similar with Tmac, and Yao. Nobody plays well with Gibert Arenas.
Cavs management would add in their firstborn child if we offered our trade exeption for Damon Jones. He is worthless except as a spot up shooter and you can't play any worse defense than him. Compared to DJ, Rafer and Luther are 1st team all-NBA defenders. Korver is definitely worth a look. I like his 3pt percentage but some games I've seen him play he barely looks worthy of the NBA.
5 years for Korver seems like kind of big a commitment for such a one dimensional role player. We have so many long term contracts already on the team (Battier for 5 more years, Alston for 4, Juwan for 3) that I would be hesitant to add another unless it was for a bonifide 3rd option or we found a way to unload Howard or Alston.
This is from his NBA Bio... We'd be getting a super-duper friend for Shane. I actually like Korver OK. And I agree... there seem to be slim pickings for the TE. I'll happily settle for a poor man's Mike Miller.
Eh, depending on the price, I'd pass on both. I wouldn't mind Korver as a backup three(Novak?), but I have a feeling the price will be pretty high.
