Korver is perfect for this team if you use him in his correct role -- a 3 point specialist for some offense off the bench. He doesn't really do much other than chuck 3 pointers, so he shouldn't see a lot of playing time.
Well Korver's salary does fit under our TE. Not that I'm in favor of bringing him in, but it wouldn't be too difficult from a salary cap perspective.
Their payroll is $88 million. They should want the TE just to dump Korver's salary since he lost his starting job last year, apparently going into the doghouse. He's an unreal shooter and I can't help but feel that our offense designed around Yao and TMac inside out would give him even better shots than he got in Philly trying to play off of Iverson and Webber. Webber is an incredible passer but he plays out high essentially along with Iverson. With Yao playing in the low block, the wide open throw out should be there. Whoever was on board for Redick should definitely be on board for bringing in Korver.
Korver and Novac on the perimeter would certainly help Yao Mings Game! Damon Jones game has been weak of late. If it was otherwise then Cleveland would be keeping him on their team. What happened to our interest in Ariza and Lorenzen Wright?
Okay, we're targeting them, but who would we trade? Would Cleveland take Juwan back? I know they're in the market for a power forward with Gooden gone. WHo would Philly want?
Me, too... but there are quite a few other teams who appear to be after him and Banks is holding out for the biggest payday. The main question about each of these guys is whether they will play enough minutes to justify their cost.
Kyle Korver wouldn't be that bad as a Rocket since he could hit the open shot. What I do like about him is that he could play sometime as back-up in both the SG and SF position giving Tmac some rest and would help us mix up our offensive game. The biggest knock on him is his defense but I'm guessing JVG system should help improve it. Not sure if this move is a legit one, but I would definitely welcome it.
I could see both of thes guys being targets with the TE. I would prefer Korver by far. Philly may be willing to dump him for the TE straight up. His contract runs through the 2010-2011 season.
Korver may also be a player that Toronto would be interested in if Mo Pete tells them he wants to leave.
you can not compare korver and novak. the only two things that they have in common is that they are both white and can shoot. korver is much more athletic and is a sg/sf, depending on the coaching style.
Considering the 76ers salary(have yall seen Dalembert's contract ). They could potentially be looking to dump salary. Also we have to remember that Iggy is due up for an extension next year. I think Korver would be a solid contributer off the bench and he gives a solid effort on defense, He might not ever be mistaken for Bruce Bowen but he does give a good effort considering his lack of athleticism.
We have Novak for that role, on top of that we'd have to deal our TE(bigger one) for him. Which I'm sure we wont deal till the Trade Deadline, unless blown away offer comes.
Korver plays well under pressure, he could really help us close out the games we usually lose by a few points.
Korver's contract runs through 2010-2011. LeBron and Wade would be unrestricted free agents the summer of 2010, if they opt out. McGrady's contract is off the books the same time they become free agents. We should not be looking to add contracts longer than four years, in case one of these two want to come play with a 30-year-old Yao, post McGrady. I'd say no to Korver, due to his contract length.
Korver can shoot the hell out fo the ball this year or 5 years from now.. he's young enough that physical decline isn't much of a factor. Now, the question is if the Rockets get KK without giving up any of the current players (say, TE+ a 2nd round pick or something like that), how they project minutes will be distributed. With TMac, Battier, Head, Snyder, Korver, there are 5 guys who are primarily wings.. Maybe they are just not gonna take any chances with TMac's health. Perhapy they'll reduce his regular season minutes even when he's healthy. That just seems to be a lot of guys at these positions... meanwhile there's still needs at PG and another backup C.
I would like Korver but isn't his contract lengthy? Novak hasn't proved anything in the league yet, so I wouldn't pass up a godd shooter just because he is on the roster.
