Mayo has a Beasley type vibe to him, someone who has worn out their welcome and will need to move on to become the player he was meant to become. He will probably need to follow the same path as Beasley, join a crappy team, re-energize his game and wait for either the crappy team to get good or hope a contender gives you another chance on a nice contract. I'm sure Memphis would love to get value back for Mayo and Thabeet but not sure what anyone would be willing to give up for these two. Someone may a get a steal with both or either one come the deadline when the Griz decide to just unload their contracts so they can re-sign Gasol and/or Z-Bo in the offseason.
Lee is one of D Howard's best friends. I'm still sipping that desparation koolaid, hoping we pull off some kind of miracle heist.
Without OJ Mayo, the Grizz are on a 4 game win streak against against Philly, Wash, Orlando and Minny, with a very likely 5th consecutive win tomorrow against the Cavs before they head to Houston. Question is: Could Mayo and Thabeet be pried away at the cost of Zach Randolph's contract? I was thinking the Rockets could offer Scola as a low-cost alternative to Randolph, throwing in Jeffries and Hill to match salary (both of whom can be let go by the Grizz at the conclusion of the season). Then the Rockets could find a trade to move AB for draft picks and move Courtney Lee to the backup PG. The Rockets get $12 million off the books, a project center, can sign-and-trade Randolph for conditional picks in the offseason, and have enough picks to trade up in the draft or use in acquiring a superstar player.
HOWARD are you crazy it will never happen no matter if Howard's Best Friend, his brother, or his mother are on the Rockets roster. Even if we used his dog as our new Official Rockets mascot. WILL NEVER BE TRADED HERE.
