Winning team gets to dribble Jontros balls. The players would leave it all out on the court for that one Or a death match tournament, the winning team lives to the next round, and losers have to take a helicopter ride on a foggy day.
I like DD's idea but would invert it. The worst 8 teams enter a tournament and try to lose. Losing teams advance and try to lose at the next round. It would be hilarity-ball, perhaps better than the normal NBA product these days.
This will not fix anything. Basically you would be encouraging teams who are in the playoff hunt to tank out or bench players so they can win the lottery tournament. The basic fix to NBA tanking is to get rid of a few teams and create more parity in the league which would also make it more entertaining in the process.
